While technology, art and media advance every day, it seems fashion is stepping one foot forward and five feet back. Lucky for us, some of our '90s faves like chokers, platform shoes and high waisted jeans are back! Also lucky for us, wallet chains and Hard Rock Cafe t-shirts were left behind.

So throw it back to the '90s and relive your retro past with some of these revived trends:

Chokers

Remember your grunge phase when you would only wear black and accessorize with that black “tattoo” choker necklace? 2016 has given the accessory a modern spin and celebs are rocking it from their red carpet looks to their Instagram selfies.

Try a simple black band for a minimalistic look or a bejewelled choker if you want to make a statement. We particularly love the sleek metallic choker Cara Delevingne wore at the Glamour’s Women of The Year 2016.

Platform shoes

Spice Girls, Madonna, Tori Spelling… Everyone had a pair of platform shoes! After sitting in the closet for 15 years, they’re finally back out. In fact, they were recently spotted on the Chanel Spring/Summer runway at Paris Fashion Week. Not only do they elongate the frame, they’re way more comfy and do-able than spindly high heels.

Dark lipsticks

A berry lipstick was the ultimate staple in the '90s. From browns to plums and purples, there’s so many ways to rock this trend. Dark lipsticks work on every skin tone so don’t be afraid to try a deeper shade. Fair skin tones should opt for more berry lipsticks and darker skin tones for more browns and brick tones.

High waisted jeans

Khloe Kardashian is bringing high-waisted jeans back with her new inclusive denim line Good American. The brand caters to sizes 0 to 24 (praise hands emoji!) We love that this comfy cut is back in style! No more accidental underwear flashes and you can eat a full meal without your stomach spilling over the waistband.

Overalls

Love them or hate them, we’ve been seeing these crop up over summer on the racks of Forever 21 and even on Miley Cyrus at the Ellen show. It takes a little more effort to make an item like this work, so make sure you focus on shoes and accessories to dress it up.
