Magician David Copperfield Makes House Appear on Market, Buys It for Record Price

Known for making things disappear, world famous magician David Copperfield has done the opposite.

He made a house appear on the market in Las Vegas, even when it wasn't listed, and then he snapped it up for just over $17.5 million - setting a record for real estate in the city.

The price upstaged a measly $17.35 million paid for a mansion in north Las Vegas in 2007.

Cooperfield headlines at the MGM Grand on the strip, so it makes sense that his new palatial retreat looks more like a hotel than a home.

The magician and his fiance Chloe Gosselin had been looking for a place for years and when they found this eight bedroom beauty they made the home all theirs by basically making the owner an offer he couldn't refuse, especially as the home wasn't even on the market.

The four-storey house, designed by an architectural team includes an impressive custom kitchen, a movie theatre with nine reclining plush seats, two elevators, a zen garden and even an infinity pool.

Copperfield is worth an estimated $800 million so it's not like the new home put a dent in his wallet.
