Zendaya pays homage to Beyoncé's 2003 Versace dress at BET Awards

Noughties nostalgia is alive and well, my friends, with celebrities and TikTok stars reinventing some of the decade's most iconic looks. And, for last night's BET Awards, that's exact what Zendaya did, paying homage to none other than Beyoncé by wearing an archival Versace dress with a striking resemblance to one previously worn by Bey to the same event in 2003.

The look in question is a deep Cadbury's purple number by the Italian designer, complete with a plunging neckline, cut-out detailed bodice with contrasting magenta and lime green accents, and a flowing skirt with a fierce thigh-high split. In short, issa lewk. Zendaya's dress is, however, notably different from Beyoncé's in one key way: Bey's features a pleated mini skirt instead of a maxi.

The actor's stylist, Law Roach (who also styles Anya Taylor-Joy and Priyanka Chopra), took to Instagram to share a dreamy slow-motion clip of Zendaya strutting her stuff in the dress, letting the semi-sheer skirt trail behind on the wind.

Proving this outfit choice was more than just a coincidence, Roach captioned the post: "Paying homage to the Queen Beyoncé wearing @versace SS2003 ..... get you a stylist with a ARCHIVE!!!!"

The clip was coupled with the audio for Beyoncé's breakout single 'Crazy in Love' (ft. Jay-Z), which she performed 18 years ago at, you guessed it, the BET Awards.

Celebrities took to the comments section to express their enthusiasm for the dress, with Gigi Hadid commenting "Oh. MG.", Lizzo adding "Sheeeeeeesh" and Priyanka Chopra writing, "Damn!!! 😍".

Zendaya went on to share various posts of the look on her own account with short but sweet captions like "2003" and "Crazy in love".
