Zara McDermott pays tribute to 'strong' mum after achieving career milestone together
Zara McDermott celebrated a new career milestone after starring in a campaign alongside her mum. The ex-Love Islander is the face of L'Oréal Paris' latest advertisements for the brand's new foundation launch.
Zara, 27, appears alongside her mum Karen in the new campaign, which has now appeared in public places such as the London Underground. The mum and daughter duo went to see the posters in real life on Saturday, 5 May together, with Zara marking the special moment with a sweet Instagram post.
She shared shots of her and Karen posing in front of the posters in one of London's tube stations. The TV personality paid tribute to her beloved mum, branding her "strong" and thanking her.
"MUM I MADE IT!!!!!!! I’m on the underground!!!! Oh wait… you are too! when we were getting 'the shot' everyone was shouting 'you are strong, powerful women!' And I think that really came across in the final picture," Zara explained.
She went on: "the reality is, I am a strong woman because I was raised by one. I am so proud of you mummy. I love having you by my side and being able to involve you in these incredible opportunities; you deserve them a million times more than I do.
"You really pushed yourself out of your comfort zone on this shoot. I cannot wait to have these pictures on the mantelpiece forever, I think my Nanna is going to want this framed. thank you so much to my @lorealparis family for this amazing opportunity. Time and time again I am blown away by the fact that I get to work with you guys, it’s literally the biggest honour."
Karen responded to her daughter's post with an equally as sweet comment. The proud mum penned: "I love you so much you beautiful human @zara_mcdermott. So very proud to call you my daughter. I have had such a crazy and amazing year so far - all made possible by you.
"Never underestimate or doubt yourself my honey you are a strong and powerful woman with the kindest of hearts. I am in awe of you and what you have achieved at such a young age and I'm sure there's more to come! Love you so so much xxx".
Fans flocked to gush over the pair, with one writing: "There's nothing quite like seeing yourself/work on real packaging or billboards!" A second said: "Wow! Congratulations."
