Zara Home Opens First Paris Flagship; New Milan Store Bows May 30

MILAN — Zara Home opened its first Paris flagship, complete with a French-style café, on Thursday in the heart of the 7th arrondissement of Saint-Germain-Des-Prés. The opening took place just a week before the homeware brand is set to open a new flagship in Milan on May 30.

The new Zara Home location was formerly the Paris home of U.K.-based furnishings-to-home accessories company The Conran Shop near Le Bon Marché. The Conran Shop closed its French operations last year, after 31 years of business.

The new Zara Home Paris store, which spans more than 17,000 square feet and three floors, houses all of the brand’s collections and product categories, limited-edition capsules and a personalization area. The 117 Rue du Bac space also offers new concepts like a café space managed by the Parisian coffee brand Dose.

With the idea of merging contemporary designs and classic trends, a selection of antiques was integrated into the space, thanks to a collaboration with the Parisian art gallery Patrick Seguin, which will exhibit furniture by Swiss architect Pierre Jeanneret, who died in 1967.

Among the special features of the store is the Apartment, where customers can find a selection of Zara Home products and ideas “for decorating the home of their dreams.” The Apartment also includes signature models from the limited collection of the Belgian architect and designer Vincent Van Duysen, whose first collection was released with Zara Home+ in summer 2022.

Building on the success of the living room collection launched last year, Van Duysen’s latest Zara Home+ is an ode to conviviality, infused with the spirit of an Antwerp home Van Duysen lived in from 1987 to 2007 and his current home in Antwerp.

Zara Home was launched in 2003 and is part of the Spanish Inditex group. The brand is present in more than 60 countries and has more than 400 stores around the world. There are currently eight Zara Home stores in Paris and 15 in all of France.

The Milan store is expected to open its doors in a commercial space of a building designed by Gio Ponti formerly occupied by Abercrombie & Fitch on Corso Matteotti. To make way for the new space, the Zara Home location on Corso Venezia has been closed.
