YSL announces Tom Pecheux as its new Global Beauty Director

This morning YSL Beaute announced French make-up artist maestro Tom Pecheux as its new global beauty director, following Lloyd Simmons departure. Pecheux is one of the industry’s leading figures and was the man behind Princess Diana’s flushed cheeks on the iconic cover of Vanity Fair and has been creating the make-up looks for Balmain, Lanvin and Chanel shows, including the latter’s glittering couture look earlier this week, for years.

Having previously held the role of creative director at Estee Lauder and Shiseido, Pecheux is certainly well-placed to transform the luxury French beauty brand. As part of the role, Pecheux will be overseeing new product development, creating the make-up looks for the campaigns and catwalk collections, as well as serving as an ambassador.

“Tom is definitely one of the most talented and famous makeup artists in the world today, with a brilliant career path,” Stephan Bezy, international general manager for YSL Beauté told the Business of Fashion. “He is someone that we have been following for many years and the opportunity came, so we wanted to make sure it happened.”

With the prestige make-up industry going from strength to strength in terms of sales and product development pathing the way for new, inventive formulas, YSL Beaute will certainly be a brand to keep your eye on. While Pecheux will still be working with other designers, there’s no doubt that he will shake things up for the French brand.
