You won’t believe this is what Selena Gomez cooks on a typical night at home (and with who)
Hands up who doesn’t actually like coffee? While coffee may be one of the most popular drinks worldwide – the average person in the UK drinks two cups of coffee a day – on a survey carried out on 2,000 adults by the British Coffee Association, 1/3 of people asked said they didn’t drink coffee at all.
And joining the no-coffee crew? None other than the 31-year-old star, Selena Gomez.
In a super cute video on the Food Network’s Instagram, Selena – who’s launching a holiday cooking special called ‘Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays’ – spilled the tea not just on her coffee (or, rather, lack of) preferences but also on her not-so-average weeknight plans. And it turns out she’s got some pretty surprising housemates.
In the clip, the singer shares a typical night at home involves cooking up a storm with none other than her grandparents – and they never order takeaways because there are always delicious homemade leftovers on offer. Here’s what she had to say...
Selena’s go-to coffee order is perhaps not what you’d expect...
‘My go-to coffee order is... Coca Cola. I don’t really like coffee.’
But she does like eggs...
‘I like my eggs sunny side up.’
The one thing she won’t eat...
‘I cannot eat rabbit. It freaks me out. It makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong.’
Let’s say it’s a random Tuesday night, what’s on the cards for dinner?
‘If it’s a random Tuesday night, I’m definitely eating something my Nana made probably the night before. I live with my grandparents so we are always in the kitchen. We’re always cooking and we have leftovers. So I’m pretty sure we won’t be ordering in – it’s got to be from home.’
Selena’s biggest guilty pleasure food...
‘My biggest guilty pleasure food would be ramen. I can’t help it. Just the simple one. It’s good to go and when you're in a rush. I love it.’
Her favourite most nostalgic food from childhood is Thanksgiving-related
‘The most nostalgic dish would probably be my Nana’s stuffing for Thanksgiving – it was her mum’s recipe, as well as her mum’s recipe. So it’s been in our family for generations and it’s delicious and it makes me always think of home.’
The one food she tried once and will never try again...
‘Oh, I remember I tried anchovies. Never doing that again.’
Her favourite pizza topping, surprisingly, isn’t ham and pineapple
‘My favourite pizza topping is either a tie between mushroom or jalapenos.’
The one dish she hasn’t yet attempted to make (but she would like to)
‘You know I actually have yet to learn how to make sushi. We haven’t even done that on our show and I would love to.
And finally, Selena’s go-to order when she's filming is...
‘My go-to lunch order is a chicken salad sandwich with grapes. It's my favourite and it’s easy. I always get it. And I like a pickle with it.’
