Female body hair is often regarded as a taboo, but women around the UK are signing up to the Januhairy campaign in order to tackle this.

Laura Jackson, 21, a drama student from Exeter University, has launched the month-long campaign to encourage women to grow out their natural body hair in order to raise money for charity.

The money will go to arts and education charity, Body Gossip, which aims to promote body positivity.

Jackson, who first grew out her body hair for a performance, told the BBC: “I realised that there is still so much more for us to do to be able to accept one another fully and truly.”xx

“I just want women to feel more comfortable in their own beautifully unique bodies.

“This isn’t an angry campaign for people who don’t see how normal body hair is. It is an empowering project for everyone to understand more about their views on themselves and others.”

Laura has already gained support on Twitter for the #januhairy movement.

However, others are not so keen on the idea, with some suggesting it is unattractive or not hygienic.

If you are keen to follow suit and grow out your armpit, leg, or any other body hair, you are in good company. Celebrities including Bella Thorne and Gigi Hadid have proudly showed off their armpit fluff in the past.

The likes of Jennifer Lopez and Emma Watson have also spoken candidly about their public hair preferences in the past.
