A woman has become an Internet sensation after highlighting a completely unrealistic fashion advert.

Ania O’Riordan pointed out the idealistic advert in the Boden Christmas catalogue, poking fun at the clothing company on Facebook.

In the advert, a tanned and leggy model beams from ear to ear as she gets the Christmas decorations down from the loft in her pants. As you do.

O’Riordan joked in her comment that no woman would have time to fake-tan and wax her legs, and suggested that the person who created the advert had been “hitting the eggnog hard and early.”

The status, which has been liked almost 20,000 times, also asked about the lack of dust following the model down from the attic and offered her own services, should the brand require any advice for future campaigns.

“If you ever need a more realistic representation of your average customer, i.e. a 43-year-old working mum who is 5ft 3 short with dark circles under her eyes, wearing leggings and a big baggy jumper who is usually covered in all manner of substances including her toddlers lunch, sick etc I’m your woman,” she wrote.

It’s not just O’Riodan who saw the funny side in the advert. Since uploading her post, numerous other women have shared their hilarious interpretations of the advert and added to the mum’s comments.

“She’s wearing her undies because everything else is covered in baby vomit, the socks are her husbands walking socks and she’s smiling because she just finished a bottle of wine…can’t you see she had to hold onto the door,” wrote one Facebook user.

“In our house, my 19 month old daughter does it. We don’t need cashmere and socks in Australia though,” wrote Jo Young.

And another mum was just as quick off the mark. “Where is the toddler trying to also climb the ladder? Where is the heavy clay Xmas ornament that they made last year (and you hid at the back of the Christmas tree) which invariably falls out of decorations’ box and hits the toddler trying to climb the ladder?,” wrote Sarah Ormes.

Fortunately, Boden wasn’t offended by the comical imitations, or O’Riodan’s comments. “Thanks for the post Ania, you did make us smile,” the company responded. “We have also passed on your comments to the Marketing Team. We hope that you are all having a good afternoon.”
