She adds that her husband's mother "purposely" brings up "pregnancy and baby names in front of other people just to make me embarrassed," and will routinely criticize the way she dresses and the names she has chosen for her future children.
When her husband finally sat down with his mom to discuss her behavior, "she started to play the victim with fake tears saying that I was overreacting and that I couldn’t handle jokes because all she was doing was joking with me."
Now, her husband's brother is set to get married, and the woman says she reconsidering going to the wedding simply because she doesn't want to be around her mother-in-law.
"Should I go to his wedding even though I know she will make mean comments about anything?" she asks fellow Reddit users.
Commenters are urging the woman to go to the wedding, but to come prepared.
"Go to the wedding, enjoy yourself, don’t let her run you off," wrote one commenter. "I would suggest coming up with a list of short answers to all her usual bs. For example….when are you giving me grandkids…never if you keep on pushing me. Competition with new SIL…good for her, maybe if she has a kid you’ll leave me in peace then smile. Short phrases but designed to shut her up always with a smile."
