Appearing on Good Morning Britain, former Gladiators star Michael 'Wolf' Van Wijk, 70, says he could comfortably return to the physically demanding show alongside his son who has applied to star in the upcoming reboot.

BEN SHEPHARD: You know of "Gladiators," of course, because you're a little bit younger, and obviously, over there in New Zealand as well. Did your dad make you sit down and watch some of those programs as a kid?

DEAN VAN WIJK: I did actually see some of the programs as a kid and actually was on the show. He actually took me on his shoulders and had a little gladiator outfit on and ran around the arena with me. But I grew up in New Zealand, so I didn't actually see too many of the shows.

KATE GARRAWAY: I bet it was fun-- sorry. I bet it was fun having Wolf as a dad. Did he ever show his Wolf side when you were naughty, or was he-- you know, is he actually a big, soft, cuddly dad?

DEAN VAN WIJK: He's actually very kind at home, but still just as sarcastic.

BEN SHEPHARD: So of course, Michael, Dean's applied to be on the new show, which is coming back next year, we think. But I guess you quite fancy being the Wolf and going back though. You'd like to be in there as well still, wouldn't you?

MICHAEL VAN WIJK: Oh, to be honest with you, and I'm being perfectly honest with you, I could do all the games comfortably and any new ones they had.
