If you live in New York City, then you know how sacred space is. New Yorkers maximize their spaces to the fullest. They’ll use a desk to store clothing items, or an entryway table that serves as both a shoe rack and a holder to hold their keys.

But even if you don’t live in NYC and you’re in need of additional space, have you thought of the idea of using shower rings to double your closet space for clothing, scarves, purses, or other items? Yes, you read that right. I know the idea sounds weird, but it’s a cool, affordable alternative that may help you in the long run both financially and with space.

You just need some shower rings to attach to your hangers; they can be purchased at stores like Dollar Tree, Target, or T.J. Maxx.

TikToker @thecraftedstudio used this method to store their children’s clothing items. Once you purchase the shower rings, you will need to hang a shower curtain ring on one hanger and hang a second hanger off that shower curtain ring, and voilà! You now have extra storage. This method optimizes vertical storage usage, leaving you with more space to store other items as needed.

This method is also great if you have a lot of purses or scarves like me and you don’t want to bend them or toss them into a bin.

Commenters on TikTok love the hack. One commenter had a brilliant alternative: “Use cable ties on hangers and you can hang five hangers on one.”

Who said shower rings are only for the bathroom? I know that I will be utilizing this method this season to store all of my items. Plus it’s a fun way to add creativity to your space without breaking the bank.
