Libra Compatibility: How the Air Sign Pairs with Each Zodiac Sign
From fellow Air signs like Geminis to Earth signs like Virgo, here is everything to know about compatibility with Libras, according to astrologer Valerie Mesa
Among the 12 zodiac signs, Libras are considered the "glitter glue."
Libras — one of the three Air signs in the zodiac — are best known to be charming romantics focused on creating balance and harmony in all aspects of life.
Astrologer Valerie Mesa tells PEOPLE that Libras are best known for bringing people together with their charm and amicable nature.
"They're relators, connectors and socially curious," Mesa says. "They typically thrive in environments where they can make connections and find similarities with the people around them."
Libra season officially kicked off on Sept. 23, the day after the autumnal equinox. Mesa explains that "when looking at the divine order of the zodiac in terms of human development, the individual is considered complete when the sun enters Libra." This means they are "now ready to connect with another individual and discover new things about themselves, the other and the world."
Here's everything to know about Libra's compatibility with the rest of the zodiac signs.
What are the key traits of Libras?
Libras are best known to be charming, romantic and artistic individuals because they are cardinal Air signs ruled by Venus.
In astrology, Mesa explains that the cardinal signs are best known to take initiative in a situation, while Air signs are best described as "cerebral and social." Since Libra's ruling planet is Venus, "the planet of love, beauty, pleasure and relationships," they are "known to initiate relationships and connections, whether personally or professionally," according to Mesa.
"They’re often the friend or family member hosting gatherings where people can come together in a quaint and charming atmosphere," Mesa continues.

Mesa adds that Libra's allure and charm can also make them "brilliant artists, curators and poets." In other words, Libras bring "an undeniable sweetness to the table" through their "aesthetically pleasing fashion sense or the [thoughtful] scented candle they gifted you on your birthday."
What signs are most compatible with Libra?
While compatibility really depends on a person's whole birth chart, Libras are typically most compatible with their fellow Air signs (Gemini and Aquarius) and Fire signs (Aries and Leo).
Signs that share the same element share similar worldviews and values, which focus on being social with others, being stimulated by intellect and caring about others as well. Meanwhile, Fire signs are best known to be passionate and courageous, which can inspire Libras to lean into taking risks and encourage them to lean into their love for the simple pleasures in life.
Aquarius
Mesa tells PEOPLE that this pairing will lean into their "strong sense of justice and humanitarianism" in the world and that they would be "likely to collaborate in social causes and community affairs together." Mesa adds that a Libra would most likely be drawn to "Aquarius’ unconventional outlook and eccentric perspective, while Aquarius admires Libra’s eloquence and diplomacy."

Gemini
For Libras and Geminis, Mesa says that their "mental banter and intellectual rapport" would be like a "a breath of fresh air." She further elaborates that a "Gemini’s playful wit amuses and entertains Libra, while Libra helps Gemini find balance and harmony in their scattered (often restless) energy." As coworkers, they "can brainstorm and make creative magic together."
Libra
Mesa says that two Libras together make the "ultimate power couple." With double the Venus influence, this pairing can host "fabulous dinner parties" together.
Aries
Opposites really do attract. Mesa says that this pairing has the "ultimate Yin-Yang vibe" that can result in a charismatic, dynamic and seductive coupling since "Aries is from Mars and Libra is from Venus."
"Libra's beauty and harmony-seeking nature can help Aries cool down," Mesa adds. "While Aries motivates Libra to be more direct and confrontational when needed."
Leo
Mesa says that a Leo and Libra make for an excellent friend pairing and are "an entire experience" when they are together. These two often "shine bright in social situations" and share a "mutual love for luxury, celebration and good times."
"I can just imagine Leo and Libra walking into a party together and the whole world stopping what they’re doing to witness their grand entrance," Mesa says.
What signs are least compatible with Libra?
Cancer
Mesa explains that Libras may find Cancers "smothering" since the Water sign can "come across as “needy” in their constant desire for emotional expression and validation." She also shares that since Libras don't usually like conflict, they can find "Cancer’s approach to addressing issues could be overwhelming."
Virgo
A Libra's "love for harmony and indecisiveness" can clash with "Virgo's detail-oriented, practical, and critical" personality, according to Mesa. She adds that "Libra’s tendency to avoid conflict could frustrate Virgo, who prefers to deal with issues head-on" while "Libras could find a Virgo’s perfectionism exhausting."
Capricorn
Things may not be smooth sailing between this Earth and Air sign. According to Mesa, since Libra and Capricorns "square each other, it can create a battle of wills." Capricorns are typically "focused, serious and career-driven" while Libras focus on their need to "thrive in social settings where they can connect and collaborate," Mesa notes.
"Capricorn is likely to view Libra as frivolous and too indecisive," Mesa continues. "While Libra finds Capricorn’s discipline and pragmatism too rigid to relate to."
What is Libra's compatibility with other signs?
Taurus
While Taurus and Libras are both ruled by Venus, they are very different from one another. Mesa says that Libras like to express their "Venusian energy in a cerebral and social way" unlike Taurus, who "seeks to embody it and experience it physically."
"Taurus prefers routine and stability, while Libra enjoys change and going with the flow," Mesa continues, adding that this "could create friction, but Libra’s ability to compromise could benefit Taurus if they’re overly stubborn."
Scorpio
Mesa says while Scorpios and Libras can be an "intense pairing," they still may be able to make it work. She explains that "Libra could feel overwhelmed by Scorpio’s emotional intensity and possessiveness at first, but the way Scorpio swoons over their charm and lightheartedness could be the root of Libra’s change of heart."
What it comes down to is that "Scorpio wants loyalty, so if Libra is able to provide that sense of security (at the very least), these two can meet in the middle."
Sagittarius
Mesa says that Libras and Sagittarius can either find each other "incredibly amusing" or Libras can find Sagittarius' "intense spontaneity and lack of tact" too much. For Libra, the Fire sign's "blunt and brutally honest approach isn’t something Libra is used to."
Pisces
These "dreamy and idealistic" signs may find difficulty "making practical decisions." Mesa says that since "Libra craves partnership and companionship, and Pisces is often distracted with the intense tides of their emotional world," this pairing's creative endeavors would be successful. However, "Pisces’ lack of direction and mood swings could make Libra uneasy, and confused."
