Here’s Why Meghan Markle Always Wore Pink After Her Royal Wedding

Elizabeth Holmes (author of HRH: So Many Thoughts on Royal Style) appeared on a recent episode of the Royally Obsessed podcast, where she chatted with hosts Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito about the Duchess of Sussex’s fashion over the years. The royal expert revealed that Markle drew inspiration from her Suits character, Rachel Zane, whose wardrobe reflected how she was feeling. (For example, if she wore red, she was in love.)
“I remember watching that in real time thinking, ‘Oh, my gosh,’” she said, referring to Markle’s public outings after the wedding. “It was dress, after dress, after dress in blush, neutral or tan.”
She went on to explain that it represented Markle’s status as Prince Harry’s wife, adding, “You look at those pink dresses now, or at least I do, in a totally new light. Because it’s like: Here she was (the most famous newlywed on the planet), and she was showing how in love she was.”
Holmes continued, “That’s the amazing thing about Meghan and her approach to fashion. Because of Meghan’s accomplishments and because of her profession—you know, she worked with a costume designer on set. This is their job to tell stories through clothes. So, she sort of hit the ground running.”
