What to watch on Prime Video in July: From Emma Roberts film to brutal gladiator series

June was a massive month for Amazon Prime Video, with the release of the fourth series of The Boys, which continues to be released weekly. Also launched was I Am: Celine Dion, a documentary following the superstar's battle with a life-changing illness, and My Lady Jane.

But there's even more to look forward to in July, including Space Cadet, a film featuring Emma Roberts, and a binge-worthy series called Those About to Die, boasting a star-studded cast that includes Welsh actors Anthony Hopkins and Iwan Rheon.

The historical Rome gladiator drama series, consisting of 10 episodes, will be available on the streaming platform from July 19. Those About to Die is set in Rome in 79 A. D and features Anthony in the role of Emperor Vespasian, while Game of Thrones star Iwan portrays Tenax.

In the meantime, Emma Roberts' new comedy drama follows her character Tiffany 'Rex' Simpson who has always aspired to go to space, but life doesn't always follow the script. Tiffany sets her sights high and unintentionally cons her way into NASA's ultra-competitive astronaut training programme with the support of her best friend Nadine, and tries to complete training and reach the cosmos before her secret is revealed, reports the Mirror.

Written and directed by Liz W. Garcia, Space Cadet, which launches on July 4, is a comedy about the power of being yourself, following your dreams, and shooting for the stars. Another movie coming to Amazon this month is Tyler Perry's thriller Divorce in the Black, starring Meagan Good and Cory Hardrict.

Launching on July 11, a synopsis for the movie reads: "Ava, a young bank professional is devastated when her husband Dallas abandons a marriage she is determined to fight for until fate intervenes, revealing Dallas’ wicked deeds that have trashed their marriage, and once upon a time sabotaged Ava’s destiny to be loved by her true soulmate."

Also launching in July is an adult-animated comedy from the minds of Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Conrad Vernon. It is a sequel to the 2016 animated feature film Sausage Party and the spin-off will bring back the original cast with a new plot involving a food revolution against humans. Meanwhile, the original movie, Cirque Du Soleil: Without a Net, sees filmmaker Dawn Porter capture the dramatic personal highs and lows of the world's most famous circus act on its journey back from the existential brink.
