Watch Anya-Taylor Joy sing in 'Downtown' in new film 'Last Night in Soho'
Anya Taylor-Joy is a woman of many talents. She's won some of the most prestigious acting accolades - including a Critics' Choice Award and a Golden Globe for her performance in The Queen's Gambit - she's proven to be a dab hand at modelling as the face of Viktor & Rolf fragrance, and now she's sharing her impressive vocals with the world for upcoming film Last Night in Soho.
Taylor-Joy sings her own cover of Petula Clark's Sixties hit Downtown in the movie, a psychological thriller directed by Edgar Wright, which will be released at the end of the month.
The film follows the story of Eloise (played by Thomasin McKenzie), an aspiring fashion designer who finds herself transported back to the Sixties into the body of singer Sandie (played by Taylor-Joy). As their story develops, things take a darker turn and Eloise quickly learns that life in the Sixties isn't quite as glamorous as she first thought.
Edgar Wright is known for directing much-loved classics like Shaun Of The Dead and Baby Driver, and has enlisted a star-studded cast for his new film. Matt Smith also features as Sadie's love interest, Jack.
Taylor-Joy has been busy promoting the upcoming film in style; she made best-dressed lists everywhere when she wore a vintage Dior Haute Couture satin-silk dress with a matching embroidered beret and shoes at the Venice Film Festival, followed by another breathtaking Dior look at the 2021 Emmys, where she arrived in a vintage-inspired halterneck gown paired with $800,000 (around £584,000) worth of dazzling diamond jewellery courtesy of Tiffany & Co.
Last Night in Soho premieres on 22 October in UK cinemas.
