Victoria Beckham Scores Temporary Job At British Fashion Council

Victoria Beckham has come a long way since the Spice Girls days.

In addition to owning her own her own super successful fashion label (worth a jaw-dropping £200 million) and being a UN Ambassador, she’s now a judge on the British Fashion Council’s prestigious Designer Fashion Fund panel.

And it’s no small feat. The panel decides which up-and-coming designer deserves a bespoke mentoring programme and £200,000 prize to help them turn their collection into a raving success.

Mary Katrantzou was last year’s lucky winner and Nicholas Kirkwood and Christopher Kane both grew their brands from their previous wins.

This year, Emilia Wickstead, Mother of Pearl, Osman, Prism and Sophia Webster have been shortlisted as the five designers hoping to be named the winner, who will be announced on March 22 after Fashion Week is done and dusted.

This is VB’s first time on the panel and she’s joined as this year’s special guest – just like top model Naomi Campbell did last year. The mum-of-four joins the likes of British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman, Samantha Cameron, The Daily Telegraph’s Lisa Armstrong and Burberry’s Sarah Manley.

The whole process is being filmed for a web series, which will ultimately show how the panel picks the winner.

The job’s a big win for Beckham who’s spent almost a decade paving her way in the fashion industry and this proves that she really has made it – and left her girl power days behind.
