WWD caught up with Hudgens at American Express‘ “Raise the Bar With Business Gold Card” pop-up on Nov. 2 in New York, and talked all things small business and Halloween.

“They’ve just had an amazing history of supporting small businesses,” Hudgens, who is an Amex partner, said. “As a small business owner myself, I’ve seen the benefits of having an American Express Business Gold card. They’ve just revamped the card with new benefits for members and they just take the guesswork out of optimizing your expenses.”

The actress and singer dabbles in multiple categories. With Caliwater, created in collaboration with Hudgens’ friend Oliver Trevena, she offers a modern antioxidant water; while Know Beauty focuses on skin care.

Know Beauty was launched in 2021, but rebranded in 2023. Products include two face masks: the Glacial Bay Clay Mask and the newly released Arctic Gold Vitamin C Mask.

“With Know Beauty, we’re all about targeting specific issues one issue at a time, with effective ingredients and results,” Hudgens shared, later adding, “I’ve been very passionate about skin care, especially in my 30s. I’ve learned so much about that whole world in the process.”

When she’s not running her multilayered businesses and starring in movies and shows, Hudgens is embracing her lifelong obsession with Halloween. This year, the actress took to her Instagram to showcase a slew of costumes, including a witch, a baseball player and “The Princess Bride.”

“That’s my favorite season,” Hudgens said. “I go into a post-Halloween depression for sure. It always goes so fast, October comes and goes so quickly and I’m always so sad about it. It’s just something that I’ve always loved.”

Her earliest memories of Halloween begin at 3 years old, when she would “dress up as Catwoman literally every single day,” she said. “Obviously, I became an actor and got to play dress-up in my work as well. I love spooky season,” Hudgens said.
