Until I Kill You viewers all left saying same thing within minutes of start of ITV drama
ITV's latest drama, Until I Kill You, made its debut on Sunday, November 3, featuring Bafta-winning actor Anna Maxwell Martin, 47, in the role of Delia Balmer. The series, set in the 1990s, is based on a memoir penned by Delia Balmer herself, chronicling her violent relationship with John Sweeney, one of Britain's most infamous killers.
As soon as the real-life drama began, viewers were quick to express their excitement as actor Shaun Evans took the spotlight in the series. The ITV drama, rooted in true events, follows retired nurse Delia Balmer, now in her 70s, who first encountered Sweeney in a local pub - but their relationship rapidly soured as Sweeney's sinister past was revealed.
After moving into Delia's residence, Sweeney initiated his reign of terror, even holding Delia captive for four days by binding her to her bed and issuing threats. In an almost lethal assault, he lunged at her with an axe and knife, inflicting life-altering injuries that would take Delia years to recover from. The relationship culminated in several life-threatening attacks on Delia, which she narrowly survived. Just minutes after the show began on Sunday night, fans all quickly said the same thing - they were delighted to see Vigil star Shaun back on their screens. Sharing their excitement on X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Oh, is Shaun Evans our creepy guy here? And in his original Scouse accent? Bring it. #UntilIKillYou."

A second stated: "Shaun Evans? That'll do for me. #UntilIKillYou", while a third chimed in, sharing a similar sentiment: "You had me at Shaun Evans #UntilIKillYou." "#ShaunEvans is always brilliant. He never disappoints. Not sure I want to see him as the bad guy #UntilIKillYou," added another. The 44-year-old from Liverpool is renowned for a number of other acting roles including parts in Endeavour and Betrayal.
During the first episode of Until I Kill You, Delia shared more about her upbringing with Sweeney, revealing she was born in Australia but had a British passport as her grandparents had dual nationality. While having Christmas dinner with Sweeney's family, Delia explained that she lived in America and Canada for the first 13 years of her life. On the surface, it appeared Delia had struck romantic gold with Liverpool-born Sweeney, who seemed to be an attentive partner, showering her with flowers and affection.
