The unmissable BBC, ITV, Netflix, and Amazon TV shows due to air in 2025
2025 is set to be an exciting year for avid TV lovers. The likes of Colin Firth will be returning to television in the emotional miniseries Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, while Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague offers a glimpse into her life behind the cameras.
Viewers will get to say goodbye to the lovable characters of Netflix's Stranger Things, while saying hello to a new cast on HBO's The White Lotus. With this we've compiled a list of the biggest BBC, ITV, Netflix, Amazon and other huge TV shows due to air this year.

Lockerbie: A Search for Truth
Sky Atlantic, January 2
This miniseries stars Colin Firth, who plays the role of Dr. Jim Swire, who loses his daughter Flora after the Pan Am Flight 103 explodes over Lockerbie 38 minutes after takeoff on December 21, 1988, killing 259 on board and 11 on the ground. Following the devastating tragedy, Swire decides to seek justice with his wife Jane, which takes him to Libya where he meets Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and to the Netherlands for the trial of convicted Libyan national Abdelbaset al-Megrahi.
Jerry Springer: Fights, Camera, Action
Netflix, January 7
This jaw-dropping documentary, which will air on Netflix, goes behind the scene of America's most controversial talk show. The documentary will expose the show's biggest scandals, which took place both on and off screen.
Molly-Mae: Behind It All
Prime Video, January 17
The Love Island star, Molly-Mae Hague, takes viewers behind the scenes following her split from Tommy Fury. In the Prime Video show, she shows how she juggles motherhood and her career, as well as launching her own clothing brand, Maebe.
Severance (season two)
Apple TV+, January 17
This American science-fiction psychological thriller returns to Apple TV+ for a second series. Mark Scout, who is played by Andrew Scott, leads a team of office workers whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives. When a mysterious colleague appears outside of work, it begins a journey to discover the truth about their jobs. The show's first series received an impressive 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Prime Target
Apple TV+, January 22
One Day star Leo Woodall stars as Edward Brooks in Apple TV+'s Prime Target, who is a post-graduate mathematics student who discovers an effort being made to destroy his work in finding a pattern in prime numbers that would allow him to access every computer in the world.
Paradise
Disney+, January 28
Paradise, which will be on Disney+, follows the story of a security service team tasked with protecting a past president. The show stars Sterling K. Brown, James Marsden and Krys Marshall.
The White Lotus (season three)
Sky Atlantic, February, 2025
This fantastic comedy-drama series returns for its third season. Created by Mike White, the show follows the lives of the guests and employees of the fictional White Lotus resort chain. First season saw the characters in Hawaii, while the second season saw the cast in Sicily. This season the White Lotus will be welcoming guests to Thailand.
Small Town, Big Story
Sky Max, February, 2025
Starring Mad Men's Christina Hendricks and House of the Dragon's Paddy Considine, this dramatic comedy is about the fictional town of Drumbán, a rural village of rattled misfits on the border of Ireland and another world. The six-part series has been created and directed by Irish comedian and actor Chris O’Dowd.
The Studio
Apple TV+, March 26
Seth Rogen, the man behind the iconic comedy film Superbad, stars as a newly appointed head of a movie studio. He and his team must juggle corporate demands with creative ambitions, as they try to keep movies alive and relevant.
Miss Austen
BBC One, early 2025
The four-part drama will air on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in 2025, marking 250 years since Jane Austen's birth. Miss Austen is adapted by BAFTA-winning writer Andrea Gibb (Elizabeth is Missing, Mayflies) and takes a literary mystery - Cassandra Austen notoriously burning her famous sister Jane's letters, and reimagines it as a fascinating, witty and heart-breaking story of sisterly love. The series stars The Bodyguard star Keeley Hawes, Game of Thrones' Rose Leslie and Years and Years star Jessica Hynes.
Celebrity Bear Hunt
Netflix, early 2025
Celebrity Bear Hunt is a reality competition television series starring Bear Grylls, and presented by Holly Willoughby. British celebrities will be dropped in a Central American jungle and hunted by Bear Grylls as prey. It has been confirmed that The Inbetweeners actor Joe Thomas, Scary Spice Mel B, former tennis player Boris Becker and journalist Steph McGovern amongst others will be joining the series as competitors.
A Thousand Blows
Disney, early 2025
A Thousand Blows tells the story of Hezekiah Mosco, played by Malachi Kirby, who finds himself thrust into the vibrant and violent melting pot of post-industrial revolution London's East End from Jamaica. The series also stars Erin Doherty from The Crown and Stephen Graham from Boiling Point and Boardwalk Empire fame.
Toxic Town
Netflix, early 2025
This upcoming British drama miniseries, which has been written by Jack Thorne, follows the story of three mothers involved in the Corby toxic waste case. The real-life event saw toxic waste spilled between 1985 and 1997. The series stars former Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker, Sex Education star Aimee Lou Wood, Trainspotting star Robert Carlyle and James Bond actor Rory Kinnear.
Black Rabbit
Netflix, early 2025
Netflix's miniseries, Black Rabbit, will be about New York’s nightlife scene and will star Jason Bateman of Ozark and Air fame, who has also executive produced the show. It has also been confirmed that The Talented Mr. Ripley and Sherlock Holmes actor Jude Law will also star in the series.
Brian and Margaret
Channel 4, 2025
The two-part docu-series will see Steve Coogan star as Brian Walden and Harriet Walter as Margaret Thatcher. The series focuses on the final television interview of soon-to-be-outgoing Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and journalist Brian Walden which took place in 1989, and from which their friendship never recovered
Stranger Things (season five)

This will be the last season of the popular science-fiction Netflix show Stranger Things. Am I Being Unreasonable? (season two)

RTS and BAFTA-winning Am I Being Unreasonable? is set to return for a second series on BBC One and iPlayer this year with a stellar line-up of guest stars including American stand-up and actor Chelsea Peretti, who starred in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Tom Davis, of Wonka and King Gary fame, Queer as Folk star Denise Black, Jamali Maddix who appeared on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, British rapper and poet Kojey Radical and Charlie Cooper, in the first onscreen reunion with Daisy May Cooper since their BAFTA-winning This Country.

Charlie Brooker's dark and satirical anthology series will return with six new episodes for season seven. The stellar cast for this season includes rapper and actor Awkwafina, The Thick of It star Peter Capaldi, Cristin Milioti of The Penguin fame and Emma Corrin, who starred as the young Diana in Netflix's The Crown.
How to Get to Heaven from Belfast

From the writer that brought us Derry Girls, Lisa McGee's brand new series focuses on three lifelong friends reuniting after the death of an old classmate which turns a wake into a dark mystery. They embark on a thrilling adventure across Ireland, piecing together enigmatic truths amid complicated lives.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Netflix, 2025
This series will be based on the real life events of an Australian influencer, Belle Gibson, who lied about having cancer. American actress Kaitlyn Denver takes on the lead role, who will be joined by The Bold Type actress Aisha Dee and Succession actor Ashley Zuckerman.
Adolescence
Netflix, 2025
Adolescence is a four-part limited series starring Stephen Graham, who starred in Boiling Point and Bodies, where each episode is filmed in one unflinching and continuous shot.
The Undertow
Netflix, 2025
The Undertow is based on a Norwegian drama called Twin. Adam, played by Jamie Dornan, and Nicola, played by Mackenzie Davis, are stuck in a loveless marriage but the return of Adam's identical twin Lee, also played by Dornan, affects their life.
Too Much
Netflix, 2025
This romantic comedy series has been written by Lena Dunham, the brains behind HBO's Girls, and her husband Luis Felber. It follows the story of New Yorker Jessica, played by Megan Stalter, who starts a new life in London after a disastrous breakup and finds a connection with Felix, played by Will Sharpe.
The Last of Us (season two)

The post-apocalyptic drama based on a video game returns for its second season. Pedro Pascal reprises his role as Joel Miller, while Bella Ramsey reprises hers as Ellie. New to the cast this time round however, are Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Wright.
Wednesday (season two)

Jenna Ortega returns to play the lead role of Wednesday Addams. Ahead of the second season, showrunners and executive produces Al Gough and Miles Millar told Tudum: "This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore".
The Handmaid's Tale (season six)

The sixth and final season of The Handmaid's Tale will premiere on Hulu in spring, 2025, but the exact date has not yet been announced. It is reported that June, played by Elisabeth Moss, will be heading back to Gilead one last time.
The Bear (season four)

Disney's 2025 highlights clip sees a return to Chicago's best-yet-chaotic fictional restaurant, The Bear. It seems that Jeremy Allen White will be reprising his role as chef Carmy, Ayo Edebiri as Sydney and Jamie Lee Curtis as Donna - Carmy's mum.
