Uniqlo's built-in bra tops are the best purchase I made in 2023
Right now the top is discounted to only £14.90 which is a bargain, so I'll be stocking up.
Uniqlo has long been a go-to of mine for good quality basics. My favourite pair of black wide-leg trousers, crew neck jumpers that never bobble and faux leather cross body bag are all from the retailer, I pretty much wear something Uniqlo almost every day.
My Uniqlo staples grew even further in 2023 when a friend recommended the brands built-in bra tops. I was initially sceptical, as I'm very specific when it comes to bra shopping.
My ideal bra is supportive while also being extremely comfortable (so I don't do underwires that dig in) and I'm always on the hunt for full coverage cups that look smooth under clothes. I don't like visible bra straps either - fussy, I know, but I figure if I'm going to be wearing it all day, at a minimum it needs to be comfortable.
So I added the Uniqlo Heattech Ribbed Scoop Neck Long Sleeved Bra Top in black to my basket and have never looked back. It's so good in fact, I can wholeheartedly say it's the best money I've spent on my wardrobe and I've since bought it again in cream.
Uniqlo Bra Top: Quick Overview
🛍️ Product reviewed: Uniqlo Heattech Ribbed Scoop Neck Long Sleeved Bra Top
⏰ Tested it for: Two months
⭐ Rating: 5/5
💸 Reasons to buy: They're genuinely supportive for larger busts, are soft and comfortable, don't dig in and provide full coverage
✋ Reasons to avoid: I honestly have no constructive criticism, that said, bras are very subjective to personal taste so if you have a much larger bust you may find that it's not as supportive as a traditional bra
💰 Best deal we've found: They're currently on sale, reduced from £24.90 to £14.90 - that's a £10 saving
This built-in bra top is supportive, comfortable and worth ever penny.
💸 Reasons to buy
It's the perfect everyday piece that I wear with everything, from jeans and trousers to satin midi skirts and leather minis. I own it in black and thanks to its thermal fabric, it keeps me warm without needing a base layer or jumper when I'm in the office, but is thin enough to layer if I'm heading outside.
The integrated bra cups are full coverage with a thick sports-style brand so it doesn't rub the skin when I'm going about my day. The top isn't transparent either, so you don't need to worry about seeing the outline of the cups.
It's super soft and lightweight with a slight ribbed texture and a low scoop back, which is a style I would never usually wear because it's so hard to find a bra that isn't visible when wearing the style. It's nice to be able to finally wear a scoop style without worry, it adds a sophisticated, elevated finish to the otherwise basic top.
As I said, I'm now a firm fan and have gone back to purchase another. I now own it in black and cream, but it's also available grey and green, so there are lots of colours to choose from.
It also comes in a good size range, from XXS to XXL. Uniqlo has a handy 'My Size Assist' tool that uses artificial intelligence to recommend a size based on your gender, age, height, weight and your fitting preference.
✋ Reasons to avoid
To be completely honest, I think these built-in bra tops are worth every penny and there isn't a bad word I can say about them.
They're comfortable, wash well, pair with everything I already own and are well worth the usual £24.90 price tag. I only wish every top I owned fit as well as this one.
💰 Best deal we've found
I speak from experience here, these bra tops are almost never reduced. However, Uniqlo is currently slashing prices of selected lines and a rare discount is up for grabs.
The Heattech Ribbed Scoop Neck Long Sleeved Bra Tops are now reduced from £24.90 to £14.90. If I were you I'd stock up, I know I will be.
