Wanting to try out the 'funkiest' cinema after hearing rave reviews on TripAdvisor, we popped along to Everyman in Leeds to see if it would live up to the hype.

The rating of the site had been named one of the best places to go and has made a name for itself as a cool funky place that brings a unique experience outside a normal cinema.

Due to our limited timing in the city, we had to choose Heretic starring Hugh Grant at 11.30am. With this, however, came to a great benefit to us as we were able to get the 'silver screen deal'. This deal allowed me to treat my mam by having a discounted ticket of £10 instead of £13 as well as having a free coffee and cake providing that she was able to confirm that she was over 55. Not wanting to be left out, I ordered my usual salted popcorn and coke - which I paid around £8 for.

You should have seen the relief on our faces when we were told by our server that we would get it delivered to our seat - which was quite the luxury, as it meant that we did not have the stress of having to carry it.

However, what was not a luxury was trying to find our room - as it was like a maze and the staff did not show us where anything was but just shouted across the room to continue around the corner until we spotted it.

Thankfully, we finally found it and the adverts had just finished as we found our seats. The room was amazing as half of it was a lounge area to sit before the film started and the other was the actual cinema bit with different types of sofas in three rows.

As we settled in to watch the first few seconds of the film, my mam's coffee and cake arrived and we were able to watch it in peace along with other viewers.

However, that peace did not last for long as the film turned out to be a little darker than I initially thought and I found myself apologising to my mam as I did not think it would be that gory and bloody. This was again my fault for not researching the film and only going off the description which said 'Two young missionaries become ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse when they knock on the door of the diabolical Mr. Reed. Trapped in his home, they must turn to their faith if they want to make it out alive.'

Another thing that I had to say sorry for was my choice of seating. Not knowing the different types of sofas available to sit on, I made a quick decision of choosing one that was a two-seater. After the film ended we decided to test the sofa next to us - which was much more comfortable - but it was something to know about in the future if we are in another Everyman Cinema again.

Overall, our experience was amazing and we were very pleased with how clean the cinema was, how bright and colourful the decorations were and the different types of sofas you could sit in.

We were delighted with our servers who delivered our food and felt like royalty - it may not seem like much to others but it was to us. We had a great time and I think the silver screen deal sweetened the experience for my mam.
