The Elvie Pelvic Floor Trainer has 30% off Elvie

Let's be honest ladies. From sneezing to skipping and running for the bus, sometimes we all pee a tiny bit when we least expect it.

The occasional little widdle is perfectly normal and not usually cause for concern. Some of us are just a bit leaky and that's all part of life. Even if you haven't recently given birth, your pelvic floor weakens with age and it is normal to lose some strength in this area.

That said, if you can't get to the bathroom in time before soaking your underwear and high-impact exercise fills you with dread, now is the time to address incontinence concerns.

And if you struggle to remember to do your Kegel exercises on the regs (who doesn't) then the Elvie Trainer might be the solution - and it's currently on sale for Black Friday, with 30% off. We put this newfangled Kegel trainer to the test....

What is the Elvie Trainer?

The Elvie Trainer looks like a cross between a sex toy and a tadpole. But looks can be deceiving, and this nifty little device packs quite a punch behind the scenes. The small but mighty training unit, which you insert into your vagina to work, is accompanied by an app. And this is where the magic happens...

Thanks to clever biofeedback technology, the app tells you exactly when to squeeze your PC muscles (a bit like holding in a pee) and when to relax. Better yet, you can follow it on your phone screen, and it works like a video game!

Is this the world's first vagina-powered gaming console? Hey, if it sorts out my leaky pants and I have fun in the process, I am here for it. And apparently strengthening your pelvic floor muscles can lead to better orgasms. Where do I sign?

Will the Elvie Trainer work for you?

After giving birth three years ago and completely ignoring my own health needs ever since, my pelvic floor was in dire need of some TLC. But admittedly I'm just a bit leaky when I run and not exactly flooding the bathroom.

Strong pelvic floor muscles are related to good posture and overall spine support, so most women would benefit from training this area. And as you should all know by now, Kegel exercises are the best way to achieve this.

However, if your bladder issues are significant, I can't vouch for the Elvie trainer (please visit your GP!) But if you'd just like to go for a run without worrying about pee stains on your fancy running shorts, this is a great way to incentivise Kegel exercises. And any excuse to play video games while working on your pelvic floor strength is a winning combo with me.

Is the Elvie Trainer worth it?

While the vag-powered video game claim is all true, this doesn't mean it's easy. The app charts your progress, sets goals and provides a vital cheerleading role.

But even if your PC muscles are only moderately weak, it's still quite a challenge and you will feel like you're doing a workout. Just like training any key muscle in your body, it takes time, persistence and dedication to make gains.

But perhaps most importantly of all, the app politely informs you when you're doing it wrong. And let's be honest ladies, unless you're lucky enough to have a tadpole-shaped device nestled discreetly up your vagina directing your every move, would you know if you were doing them right or wrong?

How long does it take for Elvie Trainer to work?

If you're hoping for a quick-fix, as we said, these things take time and the Elvie Trainer won't whip your pelvic floor into shape overnight. But if you stick with it, you may start to see results in just a few weeks.

For me it was slow to begin with, but before long I noticed firmer lower abs and the ability to run 5K without a drip in sight! Did this also lead to stronger orgasms? It's hard to tell, but I am having a great time. Would I have exercised such perseverance without the addition of a gamified app to help me? Probably not. Thanks Elvie!

If you combine this with a gentle postpartum exercise routine, you'll soon find your sparkle again.

How often should I use Elvie Trainer?

For best results, the brand recommend that you use your Elvie Trainer at least three times a week. However, unlike lifting weights in the gym that requires rest days, your pelvic floor can take quite a beasting.

So, if you manage to squeeze in a few more sessions per week, the sooner you will see results. Start with three per week and see how you feel. But remember, the Elvie Trainer is not a medical device. If something feels amiss then stop immediately and visit your GP.
