They’re among the most in-demand, knowledgeable experts in skincare, trusted by thousands to improve and treat skin. But what treatments do the top dermatologists, aesthetic doctors, and aestheticians choose for themselves?

While many remain tight-lipped about their go-to treatments, others are beginning to extol the virtues of the leading skin therapies that they believe deliver. Dr Anjali Mahto, Consultant Dermatologist and founder of Self London schools; 'it's important for experts to be open about the treatments they opt for. 'By doing this, my aim is to demystify these treatments and highlight the positive impact they can have on both skin health and confidence.'

'While the conversation around transparency in cosmetic procedures has improved, there is still a significant amount of misinformation perpetuated by celebrities, practitioners, and influencers regarding what they've actually had done,' she tells WH.

Here, 8 of the UK's most esteemed experts reveal the treatments that have improved the health and look of their skin.

AviClear:

'Having suffered from acne for most of my life, I understand the emotional toll it can take. When I heard about AviClear, a new treatment specifically designed for acne, I was both intrigued and hopeful. This innovative, non-invasive treatment uses laser technology to target the sebaceous glands to reduce their activity, while minimising inflammation. After just a few sessions, I noticed a significant reduction in my breakouts. It felt liberating to achieve clearer skin without the use of medication, something I had long desired as a dermatologist and a patient. I’m so excited to be able to offer this to my acne patients at the clinic.'

BBL/Halo Laser:

'My next step in skin rejuvenation was the BBL (BroadBand Light) and Halo laser treatment. These procedures are designed to improve skin tone, texture and overall appearance. The BBL treatment effectively targets pigmentation and vascular lesions, while the Halo laser addresses fine lines and wrinkles. The combination of these treatments gave my skin a refreshed glow. I was particularly impressed with how quickly I noticed results, which gave me a huge confidence boost.'

2/ Dr Sophie Shotter, founder of illuminate clinic

'I’m a big believer in practicing what I preach. I start with a consistent skincare routine, super healthy diet, lots of water, supplementation, good sleep, and cold plunging.'

Anti-Wrinkle injections

In terms of treatments I have regular muscle relaxing injections to treat my fine lines and wrinkles as well as jaw grinding.

Skin boosters

Such as polynucleotides, Profhilo to help maintain hydrated healthy skin. Chemical peels and lasers are another staple to keep my skin tone even and also to treat any redness in my skin.

Fillers and HArmonyCa

These are other regulars for me - these restore volume I have started to lose through early ageing, and also treat my chin which is genetically quite weak.

Sofwave

This is my go to skin tightening, and I have a treatment roughly every 9 months to keep my collagen and elastin levels healthy and my skin feeling firm.'

3/ Dr Jessica Halliley, Aesthetic Doctor & GetHarley Practitioner

Anti-Wrinkle injections, skin boosters & filler

'As well as my quarterly Botox, I have Ameela Polynucleotides to my under-eyes and neck every 6 months. I am still a big fan of filler, so natural when done in expert hands!

Sofwave

I had this treatment this year to my lower face/neck which has really tightened my jawline and reduced my neck laxity- and results last 1-2 years. I really invest in my home skincare, and I have regular Skinpen Microneedling sessions.'

4/ Annee de Mamiel, Integrative Facialist and Founder of de Mamiel skincare

Facial massage

I really believe in the power of touch and always perform a self-massage routine on myself – whether my face is in need of brightening, energising or contouring. Having perfected my technique on many of my clients over the years, this has now evolved into my de Mamiel 3-step Acupressure Face Fix for when you are tight on time but need a instant hit.

If it’s in the morning or before going out, I’ll only use a few drops of the de Mamiel Brightening Cleansing Oil to create friction on the skin rather than slip. I use my index finger or thumb pad to first trace down under the cheek bones until I can feel that little dent right under the bone, almost in the middle of the cheek. Pressing in and up firmly, I hold for five seconds, release and repeat several times. This helps stimulate the cheek muscle, helping it to move upwards – in Chinese medicine it is also the Stomach 3 point so this also helps the digestion.

Then I take the finger or thumb up to the sides of the nose and again just above where the nostril starts to flare out where there’s usually a little dent. Again I press, hold for three and release and repeat several times as this point helps drain the sinuses and remove any puffiness on the cheeks.

Finally, I run my thumbs up to just under the inner corners of the brow, where there’s an indentation - this can be sore but the more I press the more tension is released, while also opening and brightening the eyes. This whole mini treatment takes minutes but I love it for really waking and firming up the face, skin and eyes.

People get confused over face massage but there is no wrong way of doing it!

5/ Dr Rasha Rahkshani, founder of Dr Rasha Clinic

Sofwave

'I have been really impressed by Sofwave, a new treatment to market which is now available my clinic in Knightsbridge so I had to properly road test it. I had it done a few weeks ago and am already obsessed with the results. I saw instant tightening, and have seen further results week after week. My skin quality and texture have visibly improved. It takes three months to fully see results but I can very confidently say that I’ve seen change after only weeks and look forward to having it again in due course.'

6/ Ada Ooi, Wellness Practitioner and Aesthetician

Hifu treatment pulse light

My only skin concern is mild sagging and this ultrasound treatment works by creating heat at the deeper level of the skin, which stimulates new growth of collagen to firm and lift. You see an immediate lift after the treatment but since new cell growth takes time, best results will be seen after 2-3 months and continue to improve within the next 4-6 months, depending on your skin condition.

London Crystal Sculpt Facial

This facial treats all major ageing issues from sagging to uneven skin tone and dull skin. It involves extractions, microSculpt gua sha (which is loved by celebs) to make my facial features pop, and three gentle peels to progressively get rid of accumulated dead skin cells and stubborn sebum stuck in the pores. I get juicy and luminous skin and much more defined cheekbones and jawline.

7/ Dr Alexis Granite, dermatologist and founder of JoonByrd

Anti-wrinkle injextionss (Botox, Bocouture etc)

I use small amounts of toxin every 3-4 months in my upper face and neck and help treat and prevent dynamic wrinkles and soften fibrous bands in my neck. Unfortunately toxin doesn't last very long for me so this is the one treatment I do most frequently.

Ameela Face

love skin boosters, injectable treatments that hydrate, improve skin quality and help stimulate collagen. There are many available, lately I have been using Ameela (polynucleotides), and I treat myself twice a year to help give my skin an extra hit of moisture and a healthy glow.

Moxi

I have melasma so I need to very careful with lasers, but Moxi is a great treatment for pigmentation in all skin types as well as improved skin texture and the appearance of pores. I typically do Moxi 3 times a year or so and love that glass skin result it gives.
