Transgender man becomes first person to give birth as a man and woman

A transgender man has made history by becoming the first person in the world to give birth to a child while living as a man and woman.

Kaci Sullivan gave birth to his first child, son Graydon, in 2011 as a woman. He hoped motherhood would make him feel more feminine.

Three months later, the 30-year-old decided to transition to a man, taking testosterone and undergoing a double mastectomy.

Despite the break-up of his marriage and having to leave his job, Kaci said coming out as trans “felt like a tonne of bricks” had been lifted.

In 2014, he met his current partner Steven, falling pregnant once again after taking a break from male hormones.

Kaci spent seven days in labour and was forced to have a caesarean in order to welcome baby Phoenix into the world.

The couple are refusing to reveal the sex of their newborn and plan to raise their second child as gender neutral so they can “express themselves in the way that feels right.”

The Wisconsin resident documented his entire trans pregnancy on Facebook and YouTube to help other people going through a similar ordeal.

“As my bump grew bigger and bigger I got nervous going out in public because people would stare. They noticed my abnormal shape,” he told SWNS.

“There was a lot of anxiety but the most important thing for me was sending the message that pregnancy is not a gendered thing. It didn’t make me feel any less masculine.”

Despite receiving support from the transgender community, Kaci has also been met with criticism and abuse. “Some people have been perturbed by the idea of me giving birth but I don’t engage or respond to them,” he added. “If I see those comments, I just get rid of them.”

“They will try and find our safe space and violate it with their opinions, but they are jerks. I don’t waste my time or energy by giving them anything in return.”
