Tony Blackburn stuns The One Show hosts with blunt three-word remark about I'm A Celeb

BBC radio legend Tony Blackburn, who won the first ever series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! back in 2002, appeared on The One Show with Loose Women’s Judi Love tonight.

Speaking to hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp, Tony reflected on his experience in the jungle 20 years after competing in the ITV competition.

While Tony did give some interesting insights into his time on the show, the presenters were left speechless following his particularly blunt remark in response to a question posed by Alex.

“Tony, you won it, you were the first king of the jungle,” Alex said. “What advice would you give to the campmates?”

Tony then simply replied in a dead-pan voice: “Don’t do it.”

This caused Roman and Alex to burst out laughing, seemingly left stunned by the cheeky comment.

“Get out of there,” Alex added, joined in, before Tony clarified he was just “making a joke”.

Opening up about his experience, Tony continued: “It’s a hard show to do. I’m a vegetarian and I didn’t have to eat all that stuff.

“I couldn’t do it now - it’s horrible, the stuff they have to eat,” he added with a grimace.

“But I think you’ve just got to be yourself on, it because that’s all you can do.”

I’m A Celebrity 2024 has one of the most star-studded casts to date, with popular characters like Love Island’s Maura Higgins, McFly’s Danny Jones and Strictly Come Dancing favourite Oti Mabuse all vying to become jungle royalty.

Tonight’s episode will see the campmates battle to secure a gold ticket for the iconic Celebrity Cyclone, thus winning immunity from the next two vote offs.

Some viewers were not pleased with this new concept, accusing ITV of “ruining” the series and taking to social media to air their complaints.

On X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, one said: "Nah, not up for this at all. Taking part in the cyclone is a privilege bestowed by the viewers. You’ve actually ruined a great series by doing this. And we all know it’ll be Colleen." (sic)

Another commented: "If this is an immunity thing, please don't. It skews the order in which the public vote them out. I'm always suspicious of this. You know who is likely to be up next and are trying to save them unfairly."

However others were excited to see who would succeed, with one fan writing: "Soooo good! Love it." (sic)

The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs every night at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
