Todd Carty looks unrecognisable with huge moustache 21 years after EastEnders exit
Todd Carty looked nearly unrecognisable as he stepped out in Manchester sporting a thick moustache in new snaps. The actor was spotted running errands near The Lowry Theatre in the city.
Todd, 60, looked worlds away from his roles in The Bill and Eastenders, in which he portrayed PC Gabriel Kent and Martin Fowler respectively. The former soap star is currently starring in a touring stage production of The Mousetrap.
The star, who appears alongside fellow EastEnders star and Only Fools and Horses favourite Gwyneth Strong in the play, was seen nearby the theatre carrying a carrier bag filled with goods on 12 April, ahead of that evening's show.
Todd sported a thick Tom Selleck-style moustache, alongside a navy blue baseball cap and a pair of round glasses, making him look unrecognisable. He wore a casual blue zip-up fleece with denim jeans for the pre-show outing.
As well as appearing in theatre productions, Todd has graced our screens for decades. His journey in the entertainment industry began as Tucker Jenkins in Grange Hill, a role that garnered so much popularity that it led to his own spin-off series, Tucker's Luck, which aired from 1983 to 1985.
In 1990, Todd joined the cast of EastEnders as Mark Fowler, a role that would define his television legacy. Over the course of 13 years on the show, he embarked on a pivotal storyline involving Mark's HIV diagnosis.
In 2003, Todd bid farewell to his Walford persona, as Mark Fowler rode off on a motorbike. Tragically, a year later, Mark's character succumbed to an AIDS-related form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
His talents extended beyond EastEnders and he went on to portray PC Gabriel Kent on ITV's The Bill from 2003 to 2005. Todd also made appearances on shows like Heartbeat, Holby City, and Doctors.
Away from acting, Todd ventured into the world of reality television. His iconic participation in Dancing on Ice in 2009 remains a standout moment, marked by an unforgettable stumble on the ice that left partner Susie Lipanova momentarily alone.
In 2014, he showcased his culinary skills on Celebrity MasterChef and took part in Celebrity 5 Go Caravanning. Todd's most recent TV credits include 2019 films Birches and The Drive.
Todd's wife is also no stranger to showbiz. He has been married to actress and writer Dina Clarkin since 1990. She is best known for starring in A Place in My Heart (1997) and This Is Your Life (1955).
