They roll around every summer literally the second the sun gets it’s hat on. But unlike a tan, the effects of a bonkers new body trend can last much, much longer.
From thigh gaps, to thigh brows, ab cracks to ‘ribcage bragging’ and last week’s hip cleavage, we’re referring to those bizarre bikini body crazes that don’t seem to have any reflection on a woman’s actual fitness or health regime.
But which many will nevertheless feel pressure to conform to.
And the latest trend currently sweeping Instagram might be the most extreme yet.
Say a reluctant hello to the ‘Toblerone tunnel’.
Every bit as bonkers as it sounds, this latest in unrealistic body ‘must-haves’ has nothing at all to do with actually eating the chocolate but everything to do with the triangle shape of its packaging.
We’re not sure we totally get it ourselves, but apparently a Toblerone tunnel refers to the triangular-shaped gap between the upper thighs.
The sort of triangle you could stick a Toblerone through, y’know should you really want to.
Though the Daily Mail has reported that the craze is currently doing the rounds on Insta with celebrities showing off their TTs in various bikini selfies, the term has actually been floating around for quite some time.
Urban Dictionary explains that a Toblerone Tunnel is “The triangular gap between a woman’s upper thighs, immediately beneath the vulva.” And that particular description seems to have been in place from 2007.
It’s likely the craze has started gathering pace of late thanks to the (somewhat late) arrival of summer and the resultant rise in celebrity swimwear selfies.
According to the Daily Mail, stars including Kendall Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian and Emily Ratajkowski are just a few of the celebrities who have been taking to social media to show off their bikini bodies, complete with triangular shaped tunnels.

Thankfully, not everyone is going to be striving to obtain a Toblerone Tunnel this summer with many taking to social media to call it out for the unsavoury trend it is.
“What in the actual f**k is wrong with the world when girls are posting pictures of their arses on t’interweb and inviting people to check out their ‘toblerone tunnels?’” one user wrote on Twitter.
“The only Toblerone tunnel I have is my mouth through which said Toblerones pass!” another added.
What in the actual f**k is wrong with the world when girls are posting pictures of their arses on t’interweb and inviting people to check out their ‘toblerone tunnels?’. I always thought your toblerone tunnel was the one between between your nose and your chin #TuesdayThoughts

Although it’s all too easy to dismiss these body trends as another fad, they pressure they place on women to strive to achieve these unrealistic body goals can have a real and lasting effect on the self-esteem of some women.
Let’s not forget bodies come in all different shapes and sizes – lumps, bumps, gaps and all, and that should totally be celebrated.
So let’s just stop with the body negative trends shall we because sprinkling the Bo Po vibes is way, way more empowering.
Besides, we’d much rather eat the Toblerone than try to fit it through a gap in our thighs. Are we right?
