Three rare coins worth more than face value – and one 'excites' collectors
Have you ever stopped to think what your rare coins are worth?
Whether it's much more than face value, or a few extra pennies, always check your collection for hidden gems. Now TikTok user @CoinCollectingWizard, who boasts 213,000 followers, recently discussed three special pieces.
In a recent video, he showed what opening a jar with 7 months of savings really looks like. He then asked fans: "How much do you think has been saved?" He claimed there's some 50p and 20p's there, as well as pound coins.
He added: "Now time to sort them out to find designs worth big money." Discussing the first coin, the user detailed the 20p coin from 2008 which doesn't have a date after a dye mix-up at the Royal Mint.

"There was a dye mix-up at the Royal Mint during the transition to the new design and a small number of these coins were accidentally minted with no date," he added. "£50 if you come across one of these."
Next up was the popular William Shakespeare coin. He said: "The writing on this coin from 2014 should read 'What a piece of work is a man'. Tragedies error coins have the wrong inscription for King and country from the 2016 Army First World War Centenary £2 coin.
"This is probably an easier one to find and still can sell for around £30." And lastly the Kew Gardens 50p coin got the final mention as it's one of the most popular out there. He revealed: "The Kew Gardens 50p is arguably the most sought-after 50p.
"Nothing gets people excited quite like this original 2009 design. Just 210,000 were released into circulation and with almost all of them in private hands. The chances of coming across one in your change are slim."
It's always important to check your coin collection as you never know what's hiding in your stash. Since the video was shared, it racked up 100 likes and comments. One said: "Just need to get the Shakespeare." While others predicted the amount of his stash.
