Three iconic shows to return to the BBC - and it's good news if you love antiques

If you've been sitting on a few dusty heirlooms, you could be in luck - the BBC is bringing back three much-loved shows and they're all about antiques!

Returning to BBC daytime slots, viewers can expect brand new episodes of three popular shows - The Travelling Auctioneers, Antiques Road Trip and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip. Antiques Road Trip has been on our screens since 2010 and it will be back for a 29th series on BBC One.

The show follows two antiques experts as they attempt to recover the most profit after spending up to £1,500 on collectibles throughout the week. The series is hosted by auctioneer and TV presenter Tim Wonnacott.

Meanwhile, BBC Two has renewed its sister show Celebrity Antiques Road Trip for a 13th show. The spin-off sees famous faces try their hand at making money from auctioning off antiques.

A third series - The Travelling Auctioneers - has already started filming, according to The Sun. The show first began airing in 2022 and takes auctioneering experts across the country to find neglected treasures that need to be restored.

The second series, which aired in January, saw expert Christina Trevanion join a new team of Strictly's JJ Chalmers, woodwork and metalwork specialist Robin Johnson and auctioneer Izzie Balmer. The Travelling Auctioneers went on to win Best Daytime Show at the RTS Scotland Programme Awards last year.

Antiques Road Trip has made staggering profits over the years for its contestants - and even made history after a damaged £8 item sold for a huge profit. In 2012, experts Charlie Ross and James Braxton used their budget of £200 to buy a series of second-hand collectables.

In the episode, they chose a damaged elephant, purchasing it for just under a tenner. However, he managed to selling it for a whopping £2700.

A voiceover told viewers: "With one lot each still to go, Charlie is only £7 ahead. Next up, it’s his Staffordshire elephant, and the auctioneer thinks it could go for a couple of hundred!"

Meanwhile, Celebrity Antiques Road Trip has hosted a number of famous faces of the 13 years it's been on the air. From TOWIE star Gemma Collins and Strictly's Amy Dowden to Love Island's Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Countdown's Rachel Riley, celebrities from all areas of TV have competed on the popular show.
