There's Great Vintage Fashion And Then There's Simone Ashley In 2011 Prada
One of the worst questions a fashion editor can be asked is: 'what's your favourite Prada collection of all time?' It's a conundrum that feels impossible to answer. But, the chances are, that if you posed this question to a group of style experts, that spring/summer 2011 would be high up there.
The jazz era-inspired collection instantly captivated the industry, with its bright neon shades and constant influx of striped pieces, as well as the Italian brand's now-iconic platform brogues and swirly sunglasses – becoming definitive of what an entire generation thinks of as 'Prada style'.
Someone who clearly agrees is actor Simone Ashley. Fresh from a suitably stylish turn at London Fashion Week, the Bridgerton lead pitched up in Milan to attend the Prada SS25 show and the subsequent after party. For the show, she chose a simple black dress with pretty floral detail that doubled up as a necklace (how economic!), but all eyes this morning are on her archival dress worn for the post-show dinner.
The 29-year-old actor chose look eleven from spring/summer 2011. The dress is among those that best personified the revered collection, in both its use of stripes and the kick-flare skirt. Ashley's version is in its classic green and yellow combination, with the illustrative detailing moving from the waist up to the dress' sides. She swapped out a pair of the brogues it was originally styled with on the runway for a classic pointed Prada slingback.
The SS11 rewear from Ashley is more than timely and perhaps no coincidence at all. A pair of shoes from the 14-year-old collection was reissued at its spring/summer 2025 show, revealed yesterday. The savvy amongst you will be quick to follow suit with an edit of the best SS11 pieces available on resale sites now – or simply shop our curation below. A trip down memory lane has never been so stylish.
