But with all the choice, it’s hard to know where to start. Of course, anything TV or film themed is bound to be a winner.

And when you learn that research revealed almost 90 per cent of children’s toy boxes contain products inspired by their favourite TV shows and films, it’s not surprising that so many of this years top toys are influenced by the likes of “Frozen”, “Minions”, “Thunderbirds” and “Peppa Pig”.

But classic brands such as Lego are still going strong, with kids clambering to own playsets such as the City Deep Sea Exploration, and the popularity of Real FX proves that children still love playing with race cars.

Learning tablets are also firm favourites, with both parents and kids loving the multi-functional LeapPad Platinum – and its enhanced parent controls.

Dolls houses are still beloved – both the Chad Valley 3 Storey Summer Winter Dolls House and the Barbie Style Your Way House have been on numerous children’s wish list this year – and you can’t beat a cuddly toy, like My Friend Teddy.
