The best European cities to find love on New Year's Eve

When the clocks strike midnight in just over a week, will you have anyone to lock lips with? Or, more importantly, do you wish you did?

According to a survey by EliteSingles, New Year’s Eve is a good opportunity not only to touch tongues, but find a relationship.

Especially if you’ve decided to spend the evening abroad, as the dating site has revealed which European city dwellers believe that New Year’s Eve is a good opportunity to find love.

The site asked 7616 European singles whether New Year’s Eve is a good opportunity to find love, and they found those in some cities more responsive than others.

When it comes to men, those in Madrid were the most responsive, with 87% of participants saying “yes”. So good news if you’re seeking a single man in the new year.

For those seeking women, Madrid topped the list again at 87% too.

Or if you’re planning on heading more north, the second-best place to find single men is Helsinki in Finland, with Prague in the Czech Republic coming third.

Londoners don’t have too bad a chance either, with 63% of single males being keen, but it’s probably better to head to the Republic of Ireland if you’re looking to stay relatively local as 74% are hoping to get loved up.

Paris (but of course) scored relatively highly for both genders, with 66% of men saying yes and 56% of women.

And Budapest did well, but very differently for men and women, coming second for women at 69% and fifth for men at 74%.
