Taylour Paige-Angulo shared photos of her scars from her endometriosis surgery, saying that pain from her condition, which wasn’t diagnosed for 20 years, “would make me see stars.”

In honor of endometriosis awareness month, the Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F actress, 34, shared an emotional Instagram post on March 4, in which she described endometriosis as a “lifelong journey of healing.”

“A really violent illness that went undiagnosed for 20 years but caused me so much agony and turmoil. Finally had surgery fall of 2023,” she wrote on a carousel of photos showing the scars on her stomach from the surgery.

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue that’s like uterine lining grows outside of the uterus, the Cleveland Clinic says. It affects one in 10 women, and can cause a host of problems such as abdominal pain, “very painful” menstrual cramps, and infertility. Surgery — like the type Paige-Angulo had — may be needed to remove the tissue and adhesions, which are fibrous bands that connect organs that would otherwise be separate, the National Library of Medicine explains. The most common cause of adhesions in women is endometriosis.

For Paige-Angulo, surgery was four hours long, as she had tissue growth on her colon, bladder, and rectum. “The pain would make me see stars. Throwing up every month. Sometimes couldn’t drive.”

“The worst is how much you gaslight yourself. It’s almost like there’s no way you’re hurting this much? it definitely psychologically does something to you because it’s like you and no one around you believes the pain you’re in. The anxiety of next month. So many times I’ve ruined a costume or a good pair of jeans. In highschool my khaki uniform skirts,” she said, referring to how endometriosis can cause irregular periods as well as heavy bleeding.

“So many women are going THROUGH it okay. Be gentle with us. I am so grateful for what I’ve been able to turn around in myself over the last few years.”

The Zola star ended on a positive note, sharing that she’s thankful for her husband, fashion designer, Gary "Rivington Starchild" Angulo, her friends, and “a calm nervous system because I’m experiencing healthy partnership and beautiful sisterhood.”
