Takashi Murakami, JP the Wavy Talk Travel Essentials at Rick Owens
TRAVELING LIGHT: While there was nothing minimal about the outfits in the front row, with Rick Owens teasing his new collaboration with Rimowa at his men’s show Thursday afternoon, the diverse set of celebrities present, who included FKA Twigs and Yasiin Bey, got musing about travel essentials.
Artist Takashi Murakami is one for packing light, he said. “A sketchbook, that’s it.” Long plane journeys are a good time to draw, he confided through an interpreter.

Sitting next to him, rapper JP the Wavy took a less minimalistic stance. “Jewelry,” he said, pointing out his outsized character necklace based on a portrait the Japanese artist designed especially for him. “It’s his take on JP the Wavy,” he said.
The friends, who collaborate through the MNNK Bro collective, have been making music together. Their first single last year was timed with Murakami’s first show in Japan in eight years, and a new one is out soon. “I’m dropping a new song with Takashi next week or the week after, about the collab he did for Louis Vuitton,” JP the Wavy said in reference to the recent relaunch of the line.
American footballer Stefon Diggs is not one for traveling light. “I’ve got a whole bag of essentials, I can’t pick one thing,” he said, before musing, “I’ve always got cologne, I always want to smell good.” His favorite? “Van Cleef right now, but I mix it with something else, I can’t tell you what.”
