Sweaters as Scarves: 64 Styling Ideas From Fall 2024 Fashion Month
As much as I love to see what designers put on the runway each season, the actual clothes often feel out of reach — literally, since they won't hit stores until six months later, and financially, since I'm not a millionaire and need to pay rent. Often, I'm most inspired by the ways in which designers and their stylists put looks together. Whether it's tying bows onto everything, punctuating outfits with red tights or elbow-length gloves, or grounding them with practical ballet flats, these styling tricks can be incorporated into any wardrobe at any time, for any budget.
Meanwhile, the street style crowd tends to offer plenty of real-life use cases for these trickle-down trends, and that was certainly the case across Fall 2024 fashion month when it came to sweaters tied around the neck or body like scarves. This styling trend, which is ideal for the transitional weather we're now experiencing, has been popping up on runways and industry folk for a few seasons now, and given its prevalence on and off the catwalk these last few weeks, it won't be disappearing anytime soon.
From Michael Kors to 16 Arlington, Moschino to Dries Van Noten, designers found a number of new ways style sweaters and sweatshirts around the neck and shoulders. And from Copenhagen to New York to London and to Paris, showgoers offered their real-world interpretations.
