Michael B. Jordan has been announced as People magazine's new 'Sexiest Man Alive' and the internet - understandably - is delighted.

On Tuesday November 17, the news of the publication's new cover of the actor and his title was revealed during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

The 33-year-old star appeared on the late-night talk show dressed in a yellow biohazard suit with a smiley-faced mask before revealing his identity to the virtual audience. He later changed into a head-to-toe in a chocolate-hued outfit, consisting of suit trousers and a roll neck jumper.

Jordan candidly explained that he learnt he would be this year's recipient of the prestigious People title during a call from his publicist while out driving with a friend.

‘You look fantastic – do you feel more pressure now to look good now that you’re the “Sexiest Man Alive”,’ asked Kimmel at the beginning of the interview.

‘I think the expectation now is a little unreasonable,’ he joked. ‘It’s a cool title to have.’

After the Black Panther actor, who is occasionally referred to as Michael 'Bae' Jordan among his fans, was awarded the title (which has previously been awarded to the likes of Dwayne Johnson, Chris Hemsworth and Channing Tatum), his fans took to Twitter to commend the magazine's decision.

'PEOPLE’s finally caught up with what I’ve been saying for years now, [sic]' one fangirled.

In his interview for the cover, the actor - who will next star in Tom Clancy's Without Remorse - explained that this achievement is a special one for his family.

‘When my grandmother was alive, it was something that she collected, and then my mum naturally reads it a lot and my aunts as well,' he noted, adding: ‘This is one that they're definitely going to have a special place for.’

On close friends' reactions to the win, the Creed actor joked: ‘You know, everybody always made that joke, like, "Mike, this is the one thing you're probably not going to get".

‘But it's a good club to be a part of.’

It sure is!
