Strictly Come Dancing fans were left feeling “so sad” for Pete Wicks after he emotionally admitted that he “won’t stop trying” for as long as he’s on the show. The heartbreaking post came after Pete and partner Jowita Przystal performed at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom as part of the show’s iconic Blackpool special.

Their routine, which saw the former TOWIE star sport a pair of tight PVC trousers while performing a cha-cha-cha to Right Said Fred’s I’m Too Sexy, left fans at home in hysterics. However, the pair’s performance didn’t go down too well for the judges who gave it 27 points, meaning that Pete sat at the bottom of the leader board.

Despite his position, Pete, 36, won over viewers at home who picked up the phones and voted him through to week 10 of the show. Following the public vote the TV personality uploaded a sweet Instagram post in which he said that he was "not a good dancer”, but that he was making the most of the competition.

“Humbled. Overwhelmed. Grateful,” the post began. “I’m well aware I’m not a good dancer, but I am trying. Every week @jowitaprzystal and I just want to make the most of what we can. We take it day by day, week by week. I know VERY little about dancing but what I have learnt is that it’s about letting go and throwing yourself at it no matter what level of skill/talent you may or may not have.”

Pete continued: “I know I make mistakes, I know I don’t have rhythm and I’m wooden but I won't stop trying. I’ve tried my best from day 1 and I’ll continue to try my best for as long as I’m allowed to be part of the show.

“Your support has been mind blowing and each week you continue to show @jowitaprzystal and I love we couldn’t be any more grateful. It’s down to you that we have managed to make it to week 10. THANK YOU - I promise you will never see me in latex again.”

In response to the poignant post, fans took to social media to express their sadness as they showed their support for the Strictly star. “Pete’s latest Instagram post made me feel so sad for him. He’s so humble, and you can tell he feels like he doesn’t belong there. But honestly he should be so proud,” wrote one Reddit user.

“He's been getting all my votes and he will continue getting them until he's gone. Strictly is all about people like him and he brings so much entertainment. He deserves to be there so do much and I'm so glad he's through!,” another added.

“I love his transparency in this. He really just wants to give his all,” said a third. “He's such a sweetheart isn't he!,” commented another.

Pete’s light-hearted cha-cha-cha followed an emotional dance the week before in which Pete was left in tears during rehearsals as he dedicated the performance to his beloved late nan.

“My nan was my best mate, and we played this at a funeral because it was her favourite song, and if there's one person I wish was here and was able to watch me, it would be her. And she's not been, so this is kind of my way of having her on this mad adventure with me,” he told It Takes Two with host Janette Manrara.
