Stella McCartney Fall 2023 Is for the (Horse) Girls

Models literally walked alongside them during the show.

Stella McCartney has horses on the mind.

As if just one quadrant of a race track was enclosed, attendees at the brand's Fall 2023 show during Paris Fashion Week sat on bleacher seats as seven horses ran out, to the tune of a moan-y, breathy disco song about making love to horses (metaphorically) titled "Feed the Horse". A wrangler emerged, getting the horses in line, literally, and make way for the models to come out in the new collection.

This season, Stella McCartney sticks to an overwhelmingly neutral palette, with only a dash of orangey red adding a splash of color. Similarly, the brand focuses on staple silhouettes, like two-piece suits and midi skirts. Thigh-high boots reign, often paired with minis or peaking through the slit of a longer dress. Thickly-braided bedazzled chains adorn tops, gowns and bags alike.

Titled "Horse Power," the collection features looks that are overtly preppy (think polos with embroidered crests on the chest) as well as some that lean sportier (tracksuits, athletic jackets, baseball caps). The equine theme goes beyond the name and the backdrop for the debut: There are also horse prints and graphics spotted across tops and dresses, calling back to one of the designer's most seminal collections from her time at Chloé (that Olivia Rodrigo actually wore just last week).

This collection is for the laidback dresser or for the horse girl (or for the customer who's both). It feels free, like a horse running across a meadow. Scroll down to see every look from Stella McCartney's Fall 2023 collection.
