Who wore it better? Stars who wore near-identical Oscars dresses

To get a celebrity ready for the Oscars is a whole lot of work. Their team spends months overseeing the design of the often one-of-a-kind designer gown, with everything being meticulously planned from head to toe.

So, after months of preparation, what’s the worst thing that can happen? You scan the red carpet to see another star in a near-identical dress. Total. Nightmare.

Well, this is exactly what happened at this years Oscars, as a few celebs were left ‘twinning’ – to put it nicely. Could this be a new red carpet trend we don’t know about? Or just a few newly unemployed stylists…

Hold the phone, we’re seeing double. Firstly, Emma Roberts hit the red carpet in this in vintage Armani black and white gown, complete with a plunging neckline and white textured train.

However, not even Emma’s new bright red hair could detract from the fact that moments later Michelle Williams was seen in what looks like a modern version of her number. Pretty much the only difference is Michelle’s glitzy Louis Vuitton bottom half.

Ruth Negga was one of the first stars to hit the red carpet in an incredible custom Valentino number. The bold dress boasted sheer lace detail, a high-neck and flowing train, which quickly promoted Ruth to the top of the best dressed list.

Then, things got awkward….

We all did a double take when Ginnifer Goodwin rocked up in an identical number by Zuhair Murad. We mean, just look at it.

Let’s be honest here, Karlie Kloss’s Stella McCartney dress looks like the unfinished version of Chrissy Teigen’s.

Both ladies donned white gowns with a caped sleeve. However, Chrissy obviously had to have a dress with her signature high-slit, putting on a leggy display in Zuhair Murad.

Brie Larson and Alicia Vikander

There is no denying that Alicia Vikander and Brie Larson are both pro’s when it comes to rocking the red carpet. So, it was really no surprise that they both opted for classic black dresses, with sweetheart necklines and an asymmetric ruffled train.

Luckily, the two dresses were made out of different materials, giving each design a different feel. Alicia wore a Louis Vuitton lacy number, while Brie went for a decedent velvet Oscar de la Renta.
