Is Starbucks cutting its menu?
Newly appointed Starbucks chairman and CEO Brian Niccol announced in an earnings call last Tuesday plans to cut some items across the chain's food and beverage menu.
"Over the past four months, we've been focused on getting Back to Starbucks and those things that have always set us apart, a welcoming coffeehouse where people gather and where we serve the finest coffee handcrafted by our skilled baristas," Niccol said in the earnings call.
Niccol, who vowed to prioritize customers and boost sales, said the company has been focusing on "simplifying" the menu, but did not offer specifics on what food or beverage items would be cut. Starbucks has also removed the extra charge for non-dairy milk.
Starbucks will begin to "optimize" its menu offerings in the coming months, resulting in a 30% reduction in both beverage and food items by the end of the 2025 fiscal year, which is June 30, 2025.
Over the course of Niccol's four-month tenure, the company has enacted multiple changes, including the reversal of its open-door policy and returning coffeehouse amenities.
