Stacey Solomon won’t appear with Loose Women co-star again after ‘demolishing’ her on air, say fans
Loose Women fans have predicted that it is likely ITV producers will keep TV presenter Stacey Solomon apart from Denise Welch following their heated debate on the lunchtime chat show on Monday. Sort Your Life Out presenter Stacey, who is a Loose Women panellist, returned to the show on Monday 3 June but twice clashed with Denise during the episode.
After the show aired, one viewer took to social media and wrote: “I doubt we’ll see Stacey on with Denise for a while… Stacey has the stones to defend her thunder,” adding, “Stacey out smarted and out played her.” Another said: “Totally agree. Stacey’s blown her right out of the water. I for one am loving it.”
Initially Stacey and Denise disagreed over Melania Trump’s decision to stay with Donald Trump following his guilty verdict for falsifying records. Stacey asked: “Why is the focus on his wife? It should be about him and his disgraceful acts.”
Then later in the show, the panel talked about stay at home husbands and remote working. Stacey is mum to five children – Zachary, 16, Leighton, 12, Rex, six, Rose, four and one year old Belle – and has spoken in the past about her dream to be a full time mum. She spoke about how flexible working arrangements were a huge benefit for many families, especially those with children, but Denise complained that the “country is collapsing” because everyone is working from home and there are not enough available staff.
Stacey responded, asking if Denise really believed that remote working was the root cause of staffing shortages, rather than considering the challenges faced by workers on zero hour contracts with little job security.
“So it has nothing to do with the fact that a nurse is grafting hard on a zero hours contract, struggling to pay childcare?” she argued. “No wonder people aren’t signing up to do these jobs, they just aren’t paid enough to do them.”
Viewers were quick to support Stacey, with one viewer writing on X (formerly Twitter): “Stacey absolutely wiping the floor with Densy [clapping hand emojis] #LooseWomen,” while another added: “What a shame Stacey is stepping back from TV, she’s the only redeeming feature of #LooseWomen.”
It’s not the first time that Denise has been caught up in an argument on air in recent days. Gloria Hunniford snapped at Denise on Thursday 30 May after she interrupted the veteran broadcaster mid-anecdote. The panel had been talking about the comeback of the perm hairstyle, and Gloria said: “It's archaic when I look back because we used to be latched to this machine." Denise interrupted her, asking about the specific "perm machine" Gloria had mentioned.
Trying to dismiss the interruption, Gloria told her to wait for a second, snapping: "Hang on a sec". This made the audience laugh as Denise reacted with a fake surprised face.
