'Squid Games' star Hoyeon Jung debuts a gothic siren blue dip dye
2012 called; they want their dip dye hair back... but surprisingly, we refused to return the trend because Squid Games actor, Hoyeon Jung just debuted a runway-ready interpretation of the early 10s look. 'Twas the era of the Dan Humphrey reveal a là Gossip Girl, The Hunger Games big screen premiere and a sad sayonara to Twilight. Mems.
In a recent Instagram post, Hoyeon shared photos from what we're assuming to be a fashion fitting for Louis Vuitton. Of course, the outfit is chic AF but what initially caught our attention was the Hoyean's bright green hair. It's given gothic siren blue dip dye.
One could say that she got the Squid Games 'green light'... soz.
The hairstylist behind Hoyean's new 'do, Hye Young Lee, also took to the 'Gram to share three more photos of her look. Scroll through the below carousel post to see the star's newly coloured strands in all their natural glory:
Now, I'm sure we all remember the phase well but ICYMI, dip dye hair was – or rather, is, per Hoyean's resurrection – a hair colouring technique that involves dyeing only the ends of the hair. What differentiates dip dye from the more recent trends, balayage and ombré, is just how bold it is.
Balayage is a style that features colour closest to the roots and hairline, ombré is a mid-length look, blending a grown-out root situation and dip dye is more striking with colour just on the ends.
Are you all for this hair resurgence or would you rather leave it in 2012 with Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe'? Lots to ponder...
