A Source Close to Meghan and Prince Harry Finally Addresses Those Breakup Rumors
Rumors of a separation between Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have swirled over the past few weeks, but they officially hit a fever pitch when outlets like Radar Online and PerezHilton.com claimed to have spoken with an insider about the couple’s purported marriage troubles. Now, a Sussex source is setting the record straight.
A source close to the couple tells Bazaar.com the tabloid reports are “complete garbage.”
Their statement echoes the sentiment of another insider who spoke to Page Six about the drama. “It’s not true,” they told the outlet. “It’s literally made up.”
The so-called “palace insiders” for Radar Online claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were “taking time apart” from each other.
“They’re trying to figure out what hit them,” the supposed insider said. “Harry doesn’t fit in Meghan’s tacky Tinseltown world [and needs to] find himself.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s antagonistic relationship with tabloids has been well-documented over the years, with the couple even occasionally taking publishers to court—and winning.
After the two stepped back as senior working royals in January 2020, they sent a letter to the editors of four British tabloids, state their intention to never again work with those publications. The letter slammed the publishers’ journalistic and editorial integrity, pointing to the “distorted” or “false” narratives often crafted about the duke and duchess.
“What [the duke and duchess] won’t do is offer themselves up as currency for an economy of clickbait and distortion,” the letter read. “It is gravely concerning that an influential slice of the media, over many years, has sought to insulate themselves from taking accountability for what they say or print—even when they know it to be distorted, false, or invasive beyond reason. When power is enjoyed without responsibility, the trust we all place in this much-needed industry is degraded.”
