It’s 2016 And Women Are Expected To Show Some Cleavage To Get A Job

Research shows that showing a bit of cleavage increases your chance of getting a job - in Paris, at least.
One researcher - male, just so you know - decided to find out whether conservative clothing was a help or a hinderance for job hunting women.
Paris-based Dr Sevak Kertechian found that showing a bit of cleavage in a photo accompanying a job application made women 19 times more likely to get an interview.
He put two women forward for 200 roles in various sectors - each of them were dressed conservatively for 100 applications and in a more revealing outfit for the other 100.
Both had similar looks and skill-sets, the only differences being their clothing in their application photographs, which was either round-neck or low-cut.
In sales, the low-cut dress applications resulted in 62 more interview offers, while in accounting the racier outfit garnered 68 more interviews than its less revealing counterpart.
Dr Kertechian said: “Our results showed interesting trends as low-cut dresses significantly influenced the choice of the recruiters, even for accounting positions.
"Regardless of the job, whether customer-facing saleswoman or office-based accountant, the candidate with the low cut clothing received more positive answers.
"The results were quite shocking and negative but not necessarily surprising - they show we need to conduct more research.”
Of course, you have to ask yourself: if showing cleavage gets you a job, is it a job worth getting?
