Shocked Arg's difficult dilemma over ex Gemma Collins' wedding
Wedding bells are set to ring for Gemma Collins and her fiancé Rami Hawash, and one person in particular who is pleased for them is her ex James Argent.
Gemma, 43, and Arg met on The Only Way Is Essex in 2011, and they dated on and off for nine years. Now, a reunion could be on the cards, with Gemma revealing that the cast of TOWIE could be making an appearance at her wedding, with an invitation extended to all of them.
She said: "I’d love to see Chloe Sims there. Everyone from the show is more than welcome to come, actually – there’s no bad blood between us."
However, according to a source, Arg, 36, couldn’t believe he may be on the guest list and Gemma’s kind gesture has given him a lot to think about.
"Arg was shocked to hear that the entire cast of TOWIE might be invited to Gemma’s wedding," the source told OK! "It was generous of her to say it, but if that were to include him along with everyone else, it could be a bit awkward."
"He would have a dilemma on his hands. He is very happy for Gemma, though, and a part of him really wants to share her happy day. He also wouldn’t want to look petty by not turning up if invited."
Arg has said in the past that he is “friends” with Gemma and, given their past, they are “always going to be close”. Now, according to our source, he is rooting for her happiness.
"There’s no denying they’ve had many ups and downs, but Arg wouldn’t want to make it difficult in any way or bring up any memories of their past," the source said. "He couldn’t be happier for Gemma now that she’s getting married – it’s all she’s ever wanted."
There were claims of savage text messages during Gemma and Arg’s turbulent relationship, and their romance suffered because of Arg’s cocaine addiction. But with a gorgeous platinum ring now on her finger, Gemma has firmly moved on and is happier than ever with businessman Rami, 49.
The Diva Forever star told new!: "He’s finally put a ring on it. It was the best surprise when Rami proposed… I wouldn’t change a thing. We’ve been in a bubble ever since."
As Gemma lives her best life by planning no less than three different wedding ceremonies, our source said it could be difficult for Arg to watch from the sidelines.
They said his ex-girlfriend’s happiness, coupled with old flame Lydia Bright’s rumoured romance with gardener Ben Davies, could be a hard pill to swallow for Arg, who recently split from his 19 year old girlfriend Stella Turian.
"This could all be a bit difficult for Arg, as he has just split up from Stella and also his ex Lydia is dating again. He feels like he is back to square one," the source said. "But he’s trying to focus on the positives – he’s come out the other side of his struggles and is looking and feeling stronger than ever. Arg has grown up a lot and has had to face his demons. He will want to wish Gemma and Rami nothing but the best."
Last year Arg took part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, and wowed fans with his appearance after losing 13st and quitting a troubling drug habit. At the height of his fame, he admitted to being a frequent drug user, with his habit almost costing him his life after he overdosed twice.
But after several years of sobriety, James has opened up about his experience in the hope of offering solidarity and comfort to other people struggling to overcome their own drug battles.
Speaking to The Cabin Recovery podcast, the reality star said: "I remember waking up at the bottom of my staircase, with blood pouring down my face, like where am I? What am I doing? Screaming for help, but there was nobody around. I was in such a bad physical condition that I couldn’t really stand up. I hadn’t eaten for days on end."
Arg has credited Gemma for helping him through a troubling time with "tough love". He said: "If it wasn’t for Gemma calling the ambulances and stuff to my house, God knows what could have happened."
