Sharon Stone has spent decades redefining boldness, but at 64, the best is yet to come.

"I feel like this is the most exciting and creative period of my life," Stone said in the September 2022 issue of Vogue Arabia.

So how does the Basic Instinct actress defy ageism and other societal expectations?

"Because I'm comfortable with myself, and I don't feel personally oppressed. I think I can probably speak for you and the rest of the female planet when I say that there's a giant effort to make us not feel free and to feel oppressed. And I don't go for it," she said.

However, she admitted, "Life doesn't always make you feel like a winner as you grow older." It's because of that sentiment that Stone recently took to Instagram to share a bikini selfie. "I posted it because I feel like women become invisible once we become moms and you're 45 and people walk by you like you're not there," Stone said of the post.

She also opened up about which cosmetic procedures she received earlier on in her career and the regrets that can come along with them.

"There were periods in the super fame when I got Botox and filler and stuff," she said. But a serious health scare would change her perspective on filler forever. "Then I had this massive stroke and a nine-day brain hemorrhage and I had to have over 300 shots of Botox and filler to make the one side of my face come up again," she said. This turned what she once viewed as superficial anti-aging remedies into a "massive, painful neurological need," said Stone.

The topic of having work done has also infiltrated its way into Stone's personal life. When a younger partner asked Stone if she received Botox, she responded with her famed candor.

"It would probably be really good for your ego and mine if I did," Stone replied.

Her enviable demeanor has allowed her to thrive in a notoriously vain industry and at 64, she is more excited than ever for what's to come.

"I feel like this is the most exciting and creative period of my life," she said. "I feel really, really happy. I've never been this joyful."
