Sharon Osbourne rushed to hospital after being 'possessed' by ghost on Gogglebox
When it comes to life in the celebrity spotlight, it’s safe to say that Sharon Osbourne has seen and done it all. Whether it was building a showbiz empire alongside her famous family through to igniting feuds with celebrity heavyweights like Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden, Sharon has proven herself to be a force to be reckoned with time and time again.
Yet one challenge that very nearly proved to be too much for the star, was her participation in son Jack Osbourne’s ghost hunting show Night of Terror, which saw the proud matriarch rushed to hospital after being “possessed” by a ghost during an overnight stay!
Fans were first reminded of the shocking incident during Friday night’s instalment of Gogglebox, when our favourite armchair critics were confronted with the unexpected scenes for the first time. During the clip, Jack sent his mum into the heavily haunted Glen Tavern Inn in Santa Paula, California, and left her blindfolded alone in a room reported to have experienced heavy ghost activity to try and experience some of the hauntings for herself.
Yet during the stay, something appeared to have gone badly wrong, with the cameras revealing Sharon had collapsed in the chair and was unresponsive, prompting Jack to swiftly shout for an ambulance and medical attention!
Two weeks after the incident, Sharon was finally able to speak about what had happened as she told the cameras: “You took me to the hospital,” as Jack interjected: “And they ran every test imaginable Tests for stroke. Test for heart. For seizure. What did it come back with.”
To which a bemused Sharon wrote: “Nothing.”
According to local folklore, the Glen Tavern Inn is said to be haunted by spirits and apparitions dating back to the prohibition era, when it was previously used as a brothel and gambling den before being converted into the inn it is today.
After the scene had aired, fans were quick to weigh in, with several taking to social media to comment on the bizarre scene.
One fan wrote: “Jack Osbourne calling an ambulance because his mother is pretending to be possessed by a ghost is what private healthcare will buy you.”
A second fan commented: “#gogglebox never fails to amaze me that grown adults actually believe in ghosts.”
A third skeptical fan then added: “Why do ghost hunts always have to be in the dark in the night? If somewhere's haunted it'll happen day or night.”
Meanwhile, the Gogglebox stars themselves questioned whether or not Sharon had actually been possessed, with one terrified telly fan even cowering behind a cushion until the scenes had passed.
The chilling experience was just one of several unusual happenings to take place during the series, which sees Jack and guests investigate paranormal activity in various alleged hot spots around the world.
In 2021, Jack and his sister Kelly took on the challenge of investigating Queen Mary, an ocean liner turned hotel in California, meanwhile in 2023, Jack even tackled the mystery of Utah’s Uinta Basin, a hotspot for many claims of alien and UFO encounters.
