It's one of our favourite craft TV shows– and The Great British Sewing Bee's Esme Young has become a legend as a result. And now she has shared the contents of her sewing kit with her fans.

In a video posted on the Sewing Bee's Instagram account, the judge said: "My name's Esme Young and I'm going to show you what's in the kit I bring to The Great British Sewing Bee."

Esme – who judges the show alongside Patrick Grant – opens the black pouch containing her sewing kit and explains the contents. She first takes out a box of pins and a tape measure. She says about the tape measure: "[You] have to have, very important. It's got inches and centimetres on."

She pulls out her spools of threads, used to thread a sewing machine, and explains: "In my workshop, I have got huge amounts of thread because I'm making all different things for different people."

She also shows viewers the pair of scissors she uses for snipping thread off garments stitched on her sewing machine, and the needles she uses to hand sew buttons. She then reveals some vintage buttons she likes to use, and says: "They're quite nice, aren't they?"

She brings out her chalk, used to mark where she'll place her buttons, button holes and the hem.

Finally, Esme shows us her unpicker. She says: "Some people call them seam rippers. It's how you undo a seam or take off a button and it's very, very useful.

"And I honestly would say to anyone, you need an unpicker, a needle, chalk, thread, tape measure, pins."

She finishes the video by saying: "These are my Sewing Bee essentials."

The Great British Sewing Bee continues on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Wednesday evenings at 9pm.
