Scots are about to celebrate the most romantic day of the year, meaning purchases of cards and chocolates will be through the roof, and restaurants will be gearing up to host thousands of loved-up couples for a slap-up meal.

February 14 is the chance for partners to declare their love for each other. However, it seems that not everyone in Scotland is feeling butterflies in their stomach.

A new study from Sudouku.com.au has revealed which UK cities are feeling the love most this Valentine’s Day, and people may or may not be surprised to hear that one of Scotland's most popular cities has not fared well.

The research analyses all 73 UK cities based on the number of times each place Googles a romantic-related keyword. And despite picturesque beaches, museums, and cathedrals, Aberdeen has been voted the least romantic city.

The Granite City, which has plenty of backdrops for an intimate meet cute, recorded an average of 2,951 searchers per 100,000 residents of words like “Romantic gift ideas”, “Valentine’s Date ideas” and “Valentine’s Date night”.

A spokesperson for Sudoku.com.au said: "New data reveals 61 per cent of Brits will celebrate Valentine's Day in 2025, which is around 32.7 million people.

"The data showcases the UK cities which show their romantic side the most, as Brits prepare to show appreciation to their loved ones. However, Aberdeen’s search figures for each term are significantly lower than other cities."

Croydon was named number one most romantic city, but Scottish cities didn't make an appearance until number 17 in the rankings, which went to Edinburgh. Dundee followed at no 39, Glasgow at 54 and Inverness at 58.
